I bought a bottle of Original Old Spice that was supposed to be from Italy. Turns out it is now made in Poland. Smell pretty good, but I am not sure if it is what I remember (although I was too young back in the day).

Produced on 12/23, expired 05/26.

And Canada. Now I’m curious, how many different countries is it made in? It makes sense to make it in different countries to cut down on shipping costs, tariffs, and …

We can’t get Old Spice in Australia, shame it’s a great scent. We can still get Brut original aftershave and Splash here and the scent is nice.

Old Spice "Original" is EU market (I have seen a bottle online in the past just marked "made in EU"), Old Spice "Classic" is NA market (Canadian made), don't know how different they are in scent. There is also Indian Old Spice, which was the most recent to be marked with Shulton I believe and used to be closer to the OG formula, but I've heard on Indian forums that it's reformulated at some point, probably to make it the same as other internationa versions.. We get the Canadian "Classic" in Australia (it's not in supermarkets but the major chemist chain carries it).

Apparently the Classic and Original are not the same thing.

You're right, it doesn't sound like it. I wonder if they study the market and tweak the recipe for what sells with other fragrances.

On another note, I have a full bottle and a partial bottle of Old Spice aftershave from the early '90's and they say "Original" on the bottles. I was talking to a coworker who said he used to wear Old Spice back when he was dating his future wife; she likes the scent. He wanted to know whether I'd sell him the full bottle. I politely declined. Old Spice Original now made in Poland (8)

I'm in California , we get the Canadian version here . It smells nothing like the original Shulton Old Spice . It has a strong limonene scent , not a powdery spice scent . The closest thing I have found to the original was the version made in India , but it's been a few years , not sure if they have cheapened the formula as well. "BEWARE of imitations " .....

The last Italian bottle was so weak and anemic that I threw it out.

Unfortunately I don’t have any of the Shulton juice but a bottle of vintage Avon Spicy as a yardstick for current stuff.

So far the PAA Cold Spices is very close to Avon Spicy and a definite recommendation.

Just saw that Canada has “classic” and “pure sport”.

Last time I had a bottle was about 15 years ago and found it ok back then. Wonder how the new batches will be.

The Pure Sport is nice in the summer. In Europe Whitewater smells the same to my nose.

I have tried pretty much all Old Spice variations from the 70's through the 90's when it was Original and was still Shulton. For modern, I have tried the Italian, Canadian, and Indian. To my nose the Indian version is the closest to Shulton Old Spice. The Canadian and Italian are so watered down now and more citrus with barely any powder. The American made cologne is still decent and has more powder and spice. They all still smell like Old Spice though if that makes sense.

I have a "made in India' version of the Original. It does the job but I am to the point where my next bottle will be from the grocery store. Just tired off fooling with the whole thing. May try the PAA Cold Spices, however . Old Spice Original now made in Poland (24)

For what it is worth (as an OS guy since the 1970s):
1. My all time favorite is Shulton, no question!
2. My second choice (of the ones I can get easily these days) is OS original (Italian). And I need to try the Polish!
3. Then OS classic (easily available in the shops here in the US).

I wouldn't be surprised if the Polish one is the same as the Italian. Two ingredients are not the same on the Italian. That is they are on the Italian one, but not on the Polish.

I stay with old Shulton bottles. They're more expensive certainly on ebay, but the scent lasts well during the day and smells much better than the new stuff.

I used to use the vintage Avon Spicy, Leather, and Wild Country. I gave up because I found that the scents just didn't last very long throughout the day.

Rumor has it that the original "old spice" was sandalwood and allspice, and using those two fragrance oils indeed gets very, very close. Unfortunately, sandalwood is nearly extinct from over-harvesting, and synthetic sandalwood scents are only close to the naturally sourced scent. so they vary.

Old Spice Original Scent antiperspirant is my go to, been using it for at least 50 years now, and while there are 50 other foul smelling concoctions on the antiperspirant shelf, the Original is ALWAYS sold out. I always buy three or four if I find it, you's think stores would stock the stuff that moves instead of the Axe Body spray contenders that only 14 year olds buy. Modern times are defeating me, alas!

Ah the rarity might explain why Stirling had to stop Stirling Spice due to a price increase in an ingredient.

Old Spice Original now made in Poland (37)

Gentlemen,

I finally ran out of my old milk glass bottle of Indian Old Spice from back in the day when someone posted a Chromatography analysis of the product and determined it was, indeed, the Shulton formula. That was a long time ago, though and the product was discontinued and the Chromatograph analysis has been removed.

@BigJ Guessing the Shulton Formula is not permanently unobtanium, and not wanting to take a chance on a 60-year-old bottle of aftershave on eBay, I'd like to try your second choice. Is this stuff it? It does not say it's from Italy. But I want to refill my glass bottle with something nice and close to the original, at least. Thanks!
