Hot take - someone took a chance on me every step of my career.Someone hired me with no experience to bag groceries when I was 15.Someone hired me to care for kids when I had no prior experience.Someone hired me to help adults with state benefits w/out assistance experience.Someone hired me to perform science experiments w/1 semester of application.Someone promoted me to run a lab w/out prior management experience.Someone promoted me to manage research projects w/out diverse team management experience.Someone hired me to be a PM in an EPMO without healthcare experience.Everyone gets help along the way.Every new thing you do, you do without direct experience. You do, however, come with years of applicable experience. And that's what makes the difference.> I never came in unprepared.> I connected the dots between what I was doing and what I wanted to do.> I used past experience to boost and diversify future opportunity. So don't come on here screaming "why won't someone take a chance on me?!?"They likely will. But only if you show them why they should.Market the benefits it will bring them, and prove them right.Show them.By showing what you've DONE in the past. And how it will positively impact THEIR future. Then, go out and DO it.PS: when's a time in your professional career or life that someone "took a chance" on you? How did you prove them right?

New Year, new great things to come! On Friday, I left my role at Orange Barrel Media/IKE Smart City. As are many workplace departures, it was bittersweet. I'd invested a lot in launching a new vertical and the company had invested a lot in me. I met amazing people - so many amazing people - there wasn't a single person not to like.I took away so many things from the role and here are a few - Being the best solution, doesn't always mean winning - decisions are complex actions and involve many opinions, facts, personalities, and policies;Business development is a grueling and relentless endeavor - thank your BD folks, they are working very hard;Mature startups are extremely interesting businesses, they are still doing things they did when there were small, evolving your "people, processes, and technology" is essential to continuing to thrive grow and align your operations and great companies like OBM/IKE are doing those things; and,My career path and skills were the exact blend needed for this role, sometimes your career doesn't make sense until you find that role that brings your career into perspective. As I move into an exciting new chapter, I'll continue to draw on skills I learned early in my career and those I learned yesterday, our careers are bodies of work to be leveraged for the greater good and community benefit.I look forward to sharing my next chapter in the very near future. I can assure you it will involve community service and will leverage my body of work for greater benefit of all! How do you leverage your experience for the greater good?

This can easily happen to anyone as Ian YH Tan has pointed out. In my financial discussions with clients, we also talk about it building pools of passive income and pivoting in a career that you did not start with. What would you do if you were in Ian’s position? Retirement could also lead to spiral of depression if you did not plan what you would like to do. Let’s start thinking about what to do if every day was Sunday by choice and not by force! #careeroptions #planahead #embracechange

How are you going to grab wins in 2024?It's that time of year. Definitely feels like crunch time as the year ticks away.I am curious- what are your strategies to grab wins in the next year? Here are two I am working on-1. Quiet- how can I incorporate small amounts of quiet into daily life. The last week has been 15 minutes per day in the early morning darkness with only the light of the Christmas tree. It has been incredibly restorative and peaceful. How can I keep that momentum going into the new year when the Christmas tree gets put away. 2. Relationships- Being very intentional about the relationships I have and growing the right relationships moving forward. I know this- we are not meant to be an island. We need quality humans in our lives to journey alongside. Who might be someone you will reach out to in the new year? How about you? What is a strategy you will be working on? We are all in this together!#WINtheNOW #gooddaysareahead

POV: the draft that has never been posted 😂 ((it was from 2 years ago))Thinking about my first work trip away from home after joining the company, I remember feeling incredibly thrilled and excited. It was a one-of-a-kind experience, and you'll never feel the same thing twice in this lifetime. I'm truly grateful that I wrote about somewhere my notes.#salesengineer #medicalequipment #medicaldevicesales
