The Western Development Museum (WDM) in Moose Jaw is a significant cultural attraction that offers insight into the city's history. It is part of a larger network of four locations and boasts an extensive collection of around 80,000 artifacts. The museum focuses on transportation, showcasing steam engine trains, cars, winter travel, and other exhibits related to early settlers' journeys.

So much fun!!! My kids are so excited about our visit we are going back tomorrow before we leave for another visit!

Learned a lot about the history of Saskatoon’s development and saw many antique cars and trains. The museum has a lot of exhibits, but it’s very clean. Compared to the other WD museum in Saskatoon, this one is smaller.Keep the receipt from the ticket purchase, as it offers a 50% discount at the Western Development Museum in Saskatoon within 30 days. Additionally, I remember you can revisit this museum within a few days, but it’s best to check with the ticket office for specific details.

Amazing place! Many old trains and vehicles that you don't usually see. I especially enjoyed the section on healthcare and the iron lung machine which I hadn't seen before. My elder son 5 this year had a good time looking at several dioramas as well. The admission fees were affordable, the place is well kept and clean. There isn't too much description on most of the vehicles or trains but that was OK with me since I didn't have the time to read anyway with 2 young kids. There is also a section on 100 years of Saskatchewan history if you're the reading sort. Stroller friendly!

Very cool experience.Lots to see and lots of hands on attractions. We always enjoy the temporary exhibitions like the model train show and Lego show.Must see if you have a transportation enthusiast.

Ashley G — Google review

I've been to a lot of museums all over the globe, but as a Prairie far boy, these ones will always be my favorite. And as collections of old Canadian built extinct cars goes, this is where you wanna go! When you look at them you see the superior quality with which canadian autos,( and snowmobiles amd aircraft) were built with compared to the American stuff.Ive been going to this one for 21+ years. Always The staff are super friendly. It's super clean, and it's more than worth the money. It's perhaps not as flashy or attempting to be trendy, to stay alive like most museums in the western world now'n' days, but it doesnt have to be. This museum, like it's contents, is a Timeless classic amd cery valuable to preserving out canadian and human historyAlso, as gift shops go, this one is priced way better than most

Brian J — Google review

I love this place, especially in the winter months. What better way to see the history of Saskatchewan but in a vast, warm building, filled with unique displays. And it’s great for all ages too. Plenty of parking, easy to find and you can easily spend hours looking at everything. I highly recommend a visit.

Shane C — Google review

A nice place to see popular old cars of the North America. Most of them have been recovered professionally for the museum and have provided lots of things to amuse people for a nice visit.

Visiting the Western Development Museum in Moose Jaw was a fantastic experience! The museum beautifully captures the rich history of transportation, agriculture, and industry in Western Canada. The exhibits are well-curated, showcasing a remarkable collection of vintage vehicles and machinery. From the fascinating displays on automobiles and trains to the insights into Saskatchewan's agricultural practices, my family was captivated by the depth of information and the immersive atmosphere. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, adding to the overall enjoyment of our visit. Whether you're a history buff or simply curious about the region's heritage, I highly recommend a trip to this wonderful museum. It's a true gem in Moose Jaw and Saskatchewan!

Ivan V — Google review

It was the 75th Anniversary of WDM. I had my grandson visiting me, so the Museum is a perfect place to visit! The cupcakes were a nice addition to the festivities.

Vera L — Google review

I've loved this museum since I was a kid. I pretty much only get there for the lego or model train show. But even with the special exhibits, I still like to roam the permanent displays while there. And I get such a kick that they have the Sekine 10-speed in there as it's what my dad rides :)

David H — Google review

It is a great place! I loved, there's so many cars and aeroplanes! I'm coming back for sure!

Rodrigo H — Google review

Amazing place. I can spend whole day there. If given chance, I would live there. You can experience vintage engineering wonders. Especially how Canadian Pacific railway was built. Huge collection of car, vintage military planes.

Raman K — Google review

We had a fantastic time!I even dropped a little surprise package off to a wonderful staff member (and friend) Denise. We love that their reasonably priced admission is valid the following day visit again, as well as a couple other locations (remember to keep your receipt to show for free admission).

Dawn H — Google review

We spent about an hour and a half here with walking through all areas, reading some of the info, and stopping to take pictures. I’ve been to all four WDMs and they all have their own unique displays. The snowbirds exhibit is definitely the star here.

Jay — Google review

An incredibly high quality museum with an impressive collection. It’s largely centred on transportation including a section on the brief steamboat era on the North and South Saskatchewan. Ever wanted to be in the drivers seat of a steam locomotive? Look no further! It’s located right beside highway 1 so it’s an easy stop when on a road trip.

Jon G — Google review

10/10. Never been to the WDM before and glad I finally went. They have some really cool displays and the quality of the cars is incredible. I could definitely spend another full day or two taking it all in. Will be back for sure:)

Don and I travel a lot and visit quite a few museums in the United States. We were at this museum last week and super enjoyed it! It is very well put together, clean and very informative. We would recommend spending a few hours to read and learn. Denise was at the front desk and was a joy to talk with. She shared a lot of info about the area. Great museum!

Casino

Fun & Games

Casino Moose Jaw is a traditional venue offering slot machines, poker, and table games along with a co*cktail lounge. It opened in 2002 and features 300 slot machines, table games, and poker tournaments for thorough entertainment. The casino's prime attraction is its art deco design. Located in Moose Jaw, it provides an opportunity to gamble while visiting the city.

I stopped for a bowl of soup and was very glad I did. I ordered the broccoli and cheddar soup. It was fresh and hot and so filling. Afterwards, I decided to game for a bit and won on my third spin. I played a few games and won quite a few times. As I was on my way to Manitoba, I couldn't stay long, but I certainly enjoyed my time here. The casino was busy with a great gaming atmosphere. I would definitely consider stopping here again for lunch and a little fun.One thing to note: I drive a bug pickup and had a hard time finding anywhere to park an oversized vehicle that would not fit in the public parking. I would have thought parking would be a little better, maybe it is, but it wasn't obvious for a non-resident.

Les L — Google review

Its a cute little casino, has everything you would expect. 3 table games, and poker table on the weekends. Slots were all nice and newer style. I would love a few more different games and variety, the main popular games were always being played and the outsider ones remained empty. The staff there were awesome, from the security, slot attendant, to kitchen. Everyone there is extremely friendly, didn't run into one non friendly staff member. Casino isnt massive, almost undersized for a city like MJ, but it does get the job done for the most part.

Wrubble — Google review

For the size, this casino is quite relaxed... The food definitely exceeded my expectations, the chef was more the willing to accommodate my needs. -- the bison burger is amazing here! and for the price, can't get a better burger in moose jaw. The only con, but is understandable, is that me and my fiance were ID'd, lol. 30+ but I'll take the compliment.

Michael K — Google review

Small, very small, casino with slots and 3 table games. There was no poker this evening due to staff shortage. Recommend calling ahead of time if you’re here for the table games. We stopped in for half an hour as we stayed across the street. Security and entry staff were friendly. Paid parking

Lisa C — Google review

Temple gardens parking lot was full as usual, the hotel reception stated that street parking was their only option for hotel guests. As we have an expensive vehicle, and the huge amount of foot traffic past the parked cars, we were hesitant to park overnight in an alley.Upon checking with the casino security, they graciously offered their lot despite not being affiliated with the hotel. This is the service that makes the casino excellent. Great job.

Wanderer G — Google review

There's a little lady... That works there always so welcoming and helpful... And she does a awsome job...she motors around there and cleans everything... I've bein there quit a bit what a awsome little lady.... she always moving that little lady... Finally asked her name and it's Amie.. I look forward to see her plus other friendly others such as the lady's who work in the food area... Treat everybody so well best customers service around...

Mel F — Google review

One of the elder cleaning staff members at the casino is just awesome. She's super friendly and full of energy, which makes her a real pleasure to be around. She's always working hard to keep the place spotless, and she never forgets to throw in a warm greeting. Honestly, her positive vibe really makes the casino feel like a welcoming place for everyone.

Grayson B — Google review

Nice place. Clean and friendly. They were under renovation when we was there but a good variety of table games. They were all full on a Saturday evening so we weren't able to play.Mostly slot machines.Security at the front was very friendly and the ladies in the cage were great!Little place for food and beverage.

Ashley G — Google review

It was your typical slot machine casino and some tables. Good to kill an hr. Didn’t win but the varying values to bet were nice. Slow drain or lose it fast.Clean and clean bathroomsParking seemed you have to pay, thought that was a little lame.

Mark P — Google review

Went to the bar and had a terrible experience. The bar tender were very bad and they dont know how to make a drink. Also their alcohol serving is very little. Would never go here to drink again.

Nirav B — Google review

Good atmosphere, friendly staff. Can't complain when there's a win, too! Very nice place & helps when u always have a clean place to sit.

Jamie G — Google review

Nice, tiny and warm place. My meal is $15. I love poker, but the poker desk is only available for Friday and Saturday, and there only one poker desk.

Sigger M — Google review

Well, what can I say. Play the tables, not the machines. Machines don't pay. And it's extremely small.Aaaand don't try to have any fun or kiss your significant other because you're having fun...the staff will be uncomfortable (not the patrons, they were baffled by our reprimand for having a moment and a kiss).Don't bother. You're better off playing VLTs at a pub.

Laura — Google review

They are undergoing renovations right now so the place is a lot smaller than before. I played on several machines, with little to zero luck. There was barely a hope of winning on any of them. I thought the point of a casino was to keep you there playing with a little bit of a pay out. Nope. All 4 people in our party lost it all within 30 mins and left. It was a friend's idea to go, so I tagged along. I won't be returning any time soon. Losing money isn't a good feeling, so I know a casino isn't the place to have fun at. Bathrooms were clean and modern, so that was a big A+ on their part, and cashier was friendly.

Angela N — Google review

They serve people with everything, making sure each person are not alone whenever they need help.

Sepha J — Google review

Was treated like garbage at this casnio bye the pit boss, was kicked out for asking why he was so rude. They refuse to open the tables for highrollers, they say they are under staffed but there is numerous people standing around and the casnio appreas to be dirty. Felt unwelcome been to every casnio in the province this has been the worst experience out of all of them. I suggest driving 2 hours to the Dakato dunes casnio at least they will treat you like your welcome there.

Gateway 9 — Google review

Love the redo. Brighter. Still miss the free beverage service while playing.

Cheryl F — Google review

I’m not much of a gambler but was given a voucher to use here with my hotel stay. It was quiet as my stay was early on in the week amidst back to school/work season beginning. When I first got there, I was signed up for a casino card and given some extra play cash to use!The layout of the casino is very nice. The restaurant/lounge portion of the facility was closed when I was there but had that been up and running, I could imagine how hopping the place must be as a rule.I’m sure my next stay will include a quick trip down to the casino for a few spins as it seems only right to do!

Critics C — Google review

Although they are going through renovations, they have managed to keep the casino running. They still have tables running and enough slot machines to keep customers happy. They also have had their lounge/restaurant running the entire time. I think this transition was well planned. Good on them!

Deborah K — Google review

Disappointed.Coming from Vancouver to "Notorious City",very small space with few tables and few coin machines. Sad.

Ala G — Google review

I thought it was actually quite a small place, however if your oozing for a quiet little gambling oasis, this is the place to visit. First a treatment at the mineral spa across the street and then relax at the casino. It also has a little selection of slots to enjoy. The food and beverage bar is a handy place for a snack and perhaps a co*cktail. I enjoyed my little visit here.

The RCMP Heritage Centre is a museum that showcases the history of Canada's national police force, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. This museum houses exhibits, multimedia presentations, and programs that highlight the important role that Mounties have played in shaping Canadian identity and protecting its citizens since 1873. Located near the historic RCMP Depot Division where all Mounties are trained, visitors can learn about this iconic national police force through interactive games, artifacts, and fascinating stories.

This truly is an amazing experience for all to see. I had the opportunity to visit this museum while I was in town and couldn't have been more impressed with the current and past displays from the beginning of the RCMP to the new generation.Highly recommended for all ages.

Claude B — Google review

Majority of history and reading material in this museum is available already on wikipedia, but this place has a lot of good display of historical items. A easy museum to walk around, can be in and out within two hours.

Tim C — Google review

We arrive minutes before it opened and we had an hour for a self guided tour which meant we could read about 1/2 of the interpretive signs. We might have been able to read more, but we photographed a lot of displays and coveted the lovely classic car. There was a LOT to take in and as I mentioned we spent a good deal of time taking photos of details and things we might need as a reference once we’re back at the office. It was disappointing that the water fountains appeared to not be working properly and also the fingerprint scanner didn’t seem to register the presence of my fingertip.Visit Sharkz.ca for awesome RCMP challenge coins :).

Wonderful museum about the history of the RCMP. Easy to navigate with concise information and historical artifacts. Interesting to learn that history of western provinces and territories are so closely related to the history of the RCMP. A must for anybody interested in law enforcement and/or Western Canadian history.

On Canada Day, went to visit the RCMP Heritage Center in Regina along with the Sunset Ceremony. Lots of people were in attendance to witness the precision of the foot drill, 2 different canons were fired off, and the lowering of the Canadian flag. It was a great experience. It is definitely worth visiting!

Vera L — Google review

Nice informative museum. Indie the police dog is there and she is very well trained and fun to play with. The gift shop has lots of gifts that are great!

Mimi S — Google review

We had a few groups that were just so loud I couldn't fully enjoy it or hear myself think. There was a scavenger hunt and kids just zooming all over the place disregarding personal space. There was a woman just having a business conversation on her phone the whole time I was there, passing around and just yelling in her phone. SERIOUSLY, couldn't do this outside? We had an hour left before heading off to Saskatoon, and this really left a bad last impression for Regina.I am usually very patient and tolerable but that really activated my almonds. I came to learn about the RCMP, not hear why Allen didn't want to pitch in the deposit for a new lease in town. When I could enjoy some space on my own, yes the exhibits really take you in. Lots to read and learn, many items to marvel at.Was lucky enough to meet Indi who unfortunately was deemed too shy for RCMP dog school. She was very adorable.

Andrew H — Google review

It’s mainly a lot of reading about about the history of the RCMP. Nicely laid out and interesting. Kids under 12 will be bored.45mins - 1 hour will be sufficient time to see everythingThere needs to be more of an effort to describe the indigenous relationship with the RCMP from the perspective of the indigenous peoples of Canada - Such as the RCMP’s role in the residential schoolsWe can’t move forward if the mistakes and horrors of the past are not even acknowledged, especially in formal settings

J R — Google review

We visited RCMP Heritage Center last month, and it was an amazing experience. Very informative and interactive, kids were so busy with games and police cars. The interactive investigation area kept busy kids and adults. The place offered a movie session for kids in the movie theater following an activity. Friendly staff, coffee stations and gift shop

Dana N — Google review

Informative but limited. We had a great visit to Regina which included a visit to Depot and the RCMP Heritage Museum. The displays were informative, but in considering the long and diverse history of the RCMP, I had hoped for more in the way of content.

Sean M — Google review

This museum was very interesting, entertaining and the kids loved the interactive section. I would definitely recommend it. We learned so much

Nadja C — Google review

Excellent museum. The best place to experience RCMP’s history, its progression, and improvement over time. It is a well-designed building with many displays and with a place where an introduction video is shown to guests about how it trains candidates, what to expect and how those candidates become valuable, dedicated and professional people. There are also stimulant police officer cars to make the visitors feel like they have real driving experience in those cars while testing their driving skills!!! The only thing I wished was that I had more time to read each display's descriptions, but overall it was a fulfilling time and a fantastic experience. I really recommend visiting it if you are into learning more about one of Canada’s security forces.

Burcin E — Google review

It's quite interesting to visit here. You can understand much knowledge and history about the RCMP. You can even detect a simulated murder case by yourself.

Glory H — Google review

This was a highlight of our visit to Regina. The museum building itself was modern and the exhibits were up to date. We only experienced the museum as we had 2 hours which was just enough time. The exhibit choices were well-done and the artifacts were plentiful and amazing. If you have some time, definitely stop by to catch up on the 150+ year history of the RCMP.

N F — Google review

Both simulators were broken.Three of the videos didn't work.So it reduced the amount of things to do in the museum. However, it was a rainy Labour Day Monday and it was one of few things open. For $10 entry and how the museum is on the smaller side and about a ninety minute walk or $20 ride from most hotels it's not a must-see attraction when you compare it to other museums. There are some fun stories here.I was mildly disappointed because I wanted to try the unaired Fast Forward from episode five of season one of Amazing Race Canada. It's still worth checking out, but I wouldn't go out of my way.

Logan S — Google review

Great police/crime museum, and beautiful building! Lots of interesting artifacts and information, and I was glad to see an exhibit dedicated to northern sovereignty. I'd definitely recommend a visit!

Janice C — Google review

Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) Heritage Centre, Regina is a museum displaying the history, adventures, medals, uniforms, various other displays/ exhibits/ artefact of Police. Housed in a beautiful building, it traces the history since its formation in 1873. The theatre experience is amazing. The simulator driving area is the centre of attraction for children. The movie on training of RCMP is also informative. One enjoys moving around.See problem in audio of the 3D Horse Exhibit.Being a matter of national heritage, its history needs to be introduced to Canadian public at large, and the entry should be free or highly subsidised. At the moment, it is not so. Gifts are also expensive at the shop. Nevertheless, it's a nice place; it's worth seeing...

Khalid O — Google review

We recently drove to Regina just to experience the RCMP Heritage Museum, Depot and Pillars of the Force. It did not disappoint. We walked in right away and were greeted by Good Mornings! from the hosts there. So much to see and learn, it was a little overwhelming to take it all in. Everything was well displayed, titled and organized as we went through the varied exhibits.I enjoyed the video presentation, I even got to meet Indi, the canine ambassador! I wandered quietly and read the names of veterans, past and present, displayed upon the pillars and walkway. It was poignant, serene and tastefully done.A side note and an commodation for one of your host veterans, Bill ( I never got his last name, my apologies) On the day of our departure from Vancouver, I was notified that the Sgt major's parade was unavailable on the one and only day we had to go to Depot. I was very disappointed, but these things happen. I had resigned myself to this as I toured the museum, this is where Bill came in and made my day. Upon talking to my husband and hearing of my disappointment, he reached out and pulled a string or two, getting us the last two seats on the sold out trolley around Depot! Amazing! While I did thank Bill personally, this gentleman has some well deserved Kudos for being such a great ambassador for the RCMP.The heritage museum, all its people and experiences is the jewel in the crown for this avid RCMP fan. Thank you so much, I will return again, if I ever get the chance.Heather Q.

The museum also features a memorial wall paying tribute to fallen officers, creating a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made in the line of duty. The interactive displays engage visitors of all ages, making it a great educational experience for families. Stone Hall Castle is a hotel that resembles a medieval castle and offers luxurious suites with 4-poster beds. It features an indoor pool and a cinema to enhance guests' experience. The owner has been working on other parts of the property, making it even more impressive than before. Visitors should not miss the chance to tour this breathtaking place and be respectful while enjoying its beauty. The owner's hospitality is noteworthy as he welcomes strangers into his house with humility. Stone Hall Castle is definitely worth checking out!

Super interesting place with so much history hidden behind the frames and walls. Oh my gosh can't tell how much fun we had during the tour with our guide. Such a gem persona to interact with while getting to know the history of Regina the queen city. I assure you the experience of interaction and the way you will perceive Regina's history would never ever be available anywhere else in Canada. If you are near Regina or in Regina must must must visit the place.

The is seriously one of Saskatchewans hidden gems. Jason is an amazing tour guide friendly and full of knowledge. This also is just an amazing place to take graduation and wedding pictures to make the special person feel like royalty and make these special times even more magical. The decor seriously makes you feel like you are in a castle. It's hard not to mention some of the decor it's truly amazing but everyone should experience it for themselves it truly takes you back in time. I am so thankful for Jason opening his castle up to our photographer to make my daughters graduation picture just a bit more magical.

Was just talking about Stone Hall Castle at work and remembered how awesome it was and realized i forgot to leave a review. We went pre pandemic so it has been a while. I remember the owner said he was still working on other parts of the castle and how awesome it must be now.Everybody should check this place out, it will blow your mind!I still can’t believe how humble the owner was and invites strangers into his house.Be respectful and enjoy a really awesome breath taking tour.

This was a very interesting tour. Walking inside is like walking into another period of time, what the owner has done inside to replicate a medieval castle is truly amazing. The amount of facts and historical info that he provided all throughout the tour was fascinating. We Learned so much. Definitely glad we had a chance to enjoy the tour. I was pleased to have free parking outside. Although it was 30 above outside, I found inside cool and comfortable although some people were fanning themselves. Our kids are 9 and 10 and were not as appreciative of the history lesson but once we let them take pictures of the interior while Jason talked they became more entertained. If you have kids I also recommend checking out the amazing Waterpark down the street from here.We did not stay the night because of the kids, but I would love the chance to come back for a romantic couples night.

We took a candlelight tour on an August summer night. Building is deceiving from the outside. We were sure we were at the wrong place. Inside was incredible. Art work was absolutely stunning. Stories and history shared with us were very good and I would recommend visitors to the area check this out.

One of the best tours I experienced. I went with my family and it was absolutely beautiful and a surreal experience to know history. I would love to visit this place soon and would recommend to EVERYONE who is history fan or not to just visit this beautiful castle and experience the beauty. Lady Coco along with our tour guide were the best part of it.

Took the tour was on the little bit of the pricey side but was really cool inside . Jason the tour guide is very knowledgeable on the history of regina and medieval history . Didnt rush the tour at all . If you have the extra funds (120 for two people) and about an hour or two to kill its something to checkout

Nice step back into time. A little pricey, but guide was the owner, and really knew his stuff. Really enjoyed the little history on common sayings still used today, and where they came from! Would have liked a little more of the history of the house, but enjoyed seeing how people lived in the 16th century!

DO NOT STAY here for the current price and never if you’re a solo female traveler. To begin with the good, the place itself is beautiful. I enjoyed the decor which was very tastefully antique while still being comfortable. There are good amenities like oven (no microwave which was a bit sad), fully stocked fridges, washer dryer. Overall I’d say a higher-end airbnb but not at all what I expected for 700$! I was on a cross country road trip and even the Fairmont hotels were not as expensive. I should have done my due diligence but I saw it in a reputed tourist article last minute and thought I’d splurge. I expected a luxury hotel experience at that price. Instead, I was welcomed by the owner, who, once I entered, locked the door, the only exit, behind me. As a female solo traveler, I found that very disturbing. I was also informed that I couldn’t leave the premises without him opening and closing the door for me. Another very big red flag. I was freaked out so I left for a walk soon after, even though I had planned to enjoy the room itself. I researched then and couldn’t find even one review of a stay there. Not at all what I wanted when I spent 700$!To add insult to injury, when I’m at dinner outside, he calls me and starts blabbering about how he has a school tour the next morning before I check out and the room I’m staying in is on the tour and how he took my booking without checking the calendar. I offered to check out early but I’d expect him to give some refund or something for the inconvenience. He then says that no, how about I just cleanup a bit and then leave. He’s basically asking a 700$ paying customer to do housekeeping for him because he made a mistake. It was ridiculous!I stayed there on June 5 but didn’t post a review earlier because I didn’t want to write it when angry. But turns out I’m still angry but can kinda laugh at it now. Anyway, if he was charging ~200$, it’d probably be worth it but I’d just recommend to just avoid staying here.

The tour was amazing, very in depth, and a great learning experience. The ticket price was well worth it, and we got amazing photos. The art and decor really preserved the unique history and well exceeded our expectations. The castle was a great hidden treasure, and a must see on your next visit to Regina. I love my Bees wax candle, be sure to purchase yours on your visit!

Ruby B — Google review

The place is not a historic tourist site, it’s just a privately owned property designed to imitate historic castles with tour provided by the home owner. You might end up being the only one on the tour as there’s not much traffic to it, also who sets up a tour at 8.30pm in a poorly lit home.He won’t pick your calls even though his answering machine message says to call or text him.Paid but did not receive service, he did not have the courtesy to call back after multiple attempts to reach him..Have fun with the money you got unearned. You know what they say abt unearned money eh.BOOK AND VISIT AT YOUR OWN RISK.

I’m currently visiting Regina for one night and I am so glad I took the time to go on a tour. The castle, the decor, and the tour were all amazing. I truly felt like a learned a lot about Regina, the Darke family, antique furniture, and history! A must see location for any history lover!

Dominick P — Google review

We did the Castle tour as a family and were very impressed. The owner Jason has a great knowledge of the history around the Castle and Regina. Very interesting to say the least. The rooms were decorated to the times beautifully. You can see that a lot of hard work and passion went into this Castle and its upkeeping. My son (11yrs) was thrilled and definitely enjoyed himself on this tour. Its honestly like nothing we have seen before. 10/10 definitely recommend!

Marica J — Google review

The owner Jason was great. He was extremely knowledgeable with respect to the history of the property, and all of the amazing artifacts within the estate. His passion for the property and the history behind it all shone through for the duration of the tour. I did tour in the evening and I'd highly recommend you do the same. I have a background in real estate and the estate blew me away. With every room we entered, I found myself more in awe at the craftsmanship that went into the design and construction of the building. Jason's attention to detail with everything from the art, to the furniture, to the homemade beeswax candles, took the entire experience to next level. Hands down the best tourist attraction I had in Regina, I absolutely recommend you visit Stone Hall Castle!

Jeremie N — Google review

The owner/tour guide Jason was very friendly and knowledgeable. It is rare that someone has such a wealth of information surrounding the medieval / early modern age in Europe. Not only that, but he was PASSIONATE about history and engaged the group. The furniture in this castle is all authentic and was sourced from Europe by Jason. As an ex teacher/history major and son of an antique dealer, I was very impressed with the authenticity of the pieces in this castle.Hands down it was the best tourist experience that my girlfriend and I had in Regina. Well worth $50 a ticket.***The people complaining here and giving 1 star reviews did not show up on time for the tour. Jason literally opened the doors exactly on time. There was 15 minutes of intros about the castle in the front hallway. I don't know how small business operators like Jason would be able to run a business if everyone just showed up when they wanted to. Not only that, but it is disruptful to the group at large to have people stroll in whenever they want. 5/5 for me and will be back.

Jon C — Google review

Did not look like a castle outside but the inside was great. Great tour

Grandad R — Google review

After a day of hiking we received such a wonderful welcome. The rooms were very beautiful with lovely antiques. The sitting room just draws you in with its warming fire and comfy furnishings. I am definitely looking forward to my next visit.

Jeet P — Google review

The tour took approximately two hours and was quite the history lesson of both the city, the building, and his acquired collection of pieces. I was very impressed that he sources all of the antiques/museum pieces and his knowledge about the pieces. He makes his own beeswax candles that you can purchase there as well.

Mar J — Google review

The tour is okay. If you're really into the history of medieval times with kings, queens, traditions, etc.. Then you'll love this tour, but there isn't too much said about the actual history of the castle itself, the tour guide talks about it in the beginning and that's about it.As for safety, they should list much more on the website, TripAdvisor, or even when you're buying tickets. The evening tour is practically pitch black, with few candles to light the path, not only does this make it difficult to see the paintings and such being talked about, it's dangerous to see. If I had known it would have been so dark, I wouldn't have brought my grandmother who can't see well in dim lighting.Same goes for stairs, there's multiple staircases, some being sloped at the top and being very small steps or a skinny staircase altogether which was difficult to walk on for my grandmother. The arches of doorways should also be included as they are quite small, both horizontally and vertically. If you're someone who weighs a bit more, you wouldn't be able to see half the tour due to the design of stairways and the arches to the rooms shown. These are simply things to be of note when booking the tour.

C.J. C — Google review

We visited during the 8:30 pm tour. It was a beautiful experience and we being the only guests made it even more better. Would recommend everyone to visit. Those interested in history - it’s a treat!

National Parks

The North Unit Visitor Center is the lesser-known but equally captivating part of Theodore Roosevelt National Park, located 70 miles north of Highway 85. This remote area boasts dramatic Badlands with a mountainous feel and two famous overlooks, Riverbend and Oxbow, offering solitude and stunning views. Home to a Bison herd and Longhorn cattle, this area near the Canadian border also features cabins for rent, making it an excellent opportunity to immerse oneself in nature.

Go early. That’s when a lot of the animals seem to be out. I saw a ton of bison the day I went. I got there before the entrance booth was staffed, so it was the honor system for paying if you needed to.Do the full scenic drive. It was 100% worth it! It was very cold and windy the morning I went and it was in the middle of June! I wasn’t dressed appropriately to be outside for too long with the wind. The visitors center is small…it’s in a trailer. The rangers there were incredible! They were very friendly and answered all of my questions. They do have some souvenirs here as well as a unique passport stamp.

Matt M — Google review

Beautiful and simple. We saw a Bison up close and and far away climbing down a hill. The person/ranger that checked us in was so pleasant and nice. We went on the little mo trail , which was great for kids and a homeschooling/worldschooling must stop.

Nikol R — Google review

It was cool to experience just once . The main attraction was closed and they didn’t let us know when we bought our day pass. We did get to see buffalo and deer who were unbothered by human presence.

Ashley — Google review

Beautiful and scenic. Absolutely breath taking the wildlife is abundant

Caroline I — Google review

If it is raining, don’t bother coming to this section of the park. This was one of the worst experiences I’ve had at a National Park. Y’all need to put up warning signs about how poor the trail conditions get if it’s wet outside. We attempted to go down the Caprock Coulee trail, and it was a straight mud pit. It was virtually impossible to hike. We made it about a mile in before turning around because how dangerous and slick the conditions were. Holding onto tree limbs as life lines was the only way we didn’t fall on our faces. We were covered in mud by the time we were finished. Secondly, there were loud work crews in the area that you had to wait for them to allow you to drive in the park. There were a few nice views and interesting rock formations in the northern unit, but I have no desire to ever come back here again

Morghan T — Google review

At first glance this place is great, but with an ecology filter on the park is awful. Smoothe brome, Kentucky bluegrass, and Japanese brome (invasive plants) choke out native ecosystems. Hardly any areas visible from the road could be labeled excellent prairie. Do not visit if you want to see good prairie ecosystems.

Shaun M — Google review

Must go! Do the full scenic drive, take a lunch and stop by the prairie dog village.

Berenice C — Google review

A little off the beaten path but definitely worth the visit. I recommend getting the America the Beautiful card as Theodore Roosevelt National Park is split into a South and North unit. This area just south of the Canadian border is home to a Bison herd as well as Longhorn cattle. The iconic shelter is at riverbend overlook. The scenic drive straddles the little Missouri River. There are cabins that can be rented out. This is an excellent opportunity to come close to nature. The Park Rangers are very knowledgeable and helpful to give you ideas on hikes and historical information about the park. The visitor center does have a gift shop to purchase pins, patches, stuffed animals, decals, etc.

Richard G — Google review

We had a great time here. Lots to see and explore and the sights are fantastic. We did a little trail walking and drove through the park, I highly recommend spending a day out here bring your picnic basket because it’s worth sticking around!

Gospel B — Google review

Very interesting Park! We enjoyed seeing all the bison and the vast expanse of the landscape with the Little Missouri River winding through! What a wonderful outdoor experience. Be sure to drive to the end of the road to Oxbow Overlook and to check out the Cannonball Concretions along the way. When we visited in June it was very green and lush, with a sprinkling of pretty wildflowers. We easily found a first-come, first-served campsite in the Juniper campground for 1 night.

David L — Google review

The north unit definitely not as crowded as the south unit and had very similar views. Although my family had mentioned multiple times that the buttes and rock formation seem to be much more colorful and had a more distinct pattern in them. The scenic drive also had a stop where the cannonball like rock formations were protruding out of the buttes! We got to see bison walk right next to our truck when they decided to cross the road. I liked how clean from litter the park was and how natural everything looked. The scenic drive at times had some rough spots and was not paved at some points but all in all good. We ended up taking the Caprock Coulee Loop trail which got pretty difficult for the little ones but it did have great scenery. If anyone is looking to take this trail I would recommend that you be prepared for steep sections and narrow trails on some high ledges. Once we finished that trail we got back on the scenic road and continued on to the end of the route which had us at a pretty amazing view especially at sunset. The sunset looked so amazing it seemed fake.

Jim N — Google review

The north unit of TR National Park is way less traveled than the south unit. It’s more quiet, less traffic, and some great vistas. Really enjoyed the River overlook and the Caprock hike trail. They also had a really cool geologic mystery - the cannonballs that are being exposed from the hills as they erode.

Owen S — Google review

It's so far off of interstate and no place to eat along the way the only animals we saw was buffalo no horses or prairie dogs nothing it was a boring trip.. would recommend south hands down

Betty J — Google review

Even though the South Unit is more popular, we love visiting the North Unit! It’s a peaceful, scenic drive with many options for hikes, enjoying a picnic, and seeing wildlife. We will definitely be continuing to return to the park.

Courtney B — Google review

I visited both the North and South Units of the Theodore Roosevelt National Park. You must realize that the two units are about 80-miles apart and each is unique in its own right. It took me about an hour and a half to make the drive up to the north unit from my hotel in Dickinson, arriving at the North Unit Visitors Center about mid-morning. After picking up a map and talking to one of the very helpful rangers I began my drive along the scenic drive out to the Oxbow Overlook. Along the way I managed to stop at most of the pullout and over looks which afford you some wonderful views of the North Dakota Badlands and the grass Prairie. I even took a short hike at the Cannonball Concretions Pull out. This is definitely worth a stop even if you don’t venture far from the parking area. If you do be careful, as I saw two rattlesnake along the way. The River Bend Overlook is perhaps the most popular spot in the North Unit. It affords you a grand view of the Little Missouri River which was almost dry during my visit. I also encountered my first buffalo at the River Bend Overlook. A lone buffalo was grazing just off the path and a family failed to heed the rangers’ warnings that buffalo are wild and dangerous and should be view from a distance. A lady and on of her kids got a little too close and the big shaggy beast shook its head and started charging at them. Thankful they were able to escape to the safety of their car. As I drove through the park, I saw several small herds of Buffalo grazing on the prairie grass near the road. A could of times I had to stop and wait for them to cross the road. I visited the North Unit in Mid-June and there was only a handful of tourist in the park. I must say that I enjoyed the North Unit just as much if not more than the more crowded South Unit. I highly recommend making the drive up to the North Unit, it is well worth the time and effort.

Tribute to Norse heritage in parkland displaying a Norwegian wooden stave church & Danish windmill.

This park was great! So many areas to explore with tons of details about Scandinavian culture! The area is geared towards Norwegian heritage, with most exhibits being copied and brought over from Norway, or brought as original from Norway. The park features a Norwegian church as a replica of one built in the 1300s. The park features a Dala Horse from Sweden and much more! Each exhibit provides distinct details about each structure. Would definitely go again!

This is a really beautiful park with amazing architecture. It's a nice place to visit no matter what season it is. There are several water features located around the park that are very calming and there are beautiful flower displays during the Summer months.

This park was so beautiful and serene, even when it's super cold and gray outside! Tina was absolutely wonderful to our family when we went inside the Visitor's Center to check out what was in the Minot area and gift shop. She's spent SO much time speaking with us candidly. We are considering moving to the area and she shared personal experiences and recommendations based on us having a very young child and our interests. She was one of the most kind people we met during our week-long trip and she was so sweet to our son. She never rushed us and offered to take our photo with a really charming hand-carved troll bench. Thanks so much for everything, Tina! You really made this park and experience so much more special and memorable for us!

What a beautiful park. I went to visit the Visitors Center and get info about ND parks and found this beautiful place. The story of all icons, statues and homes is displayed so you can do a tour around the park or just walk through it and enjoy the view and maybe...some selfies. The visitor center also has merchandise for sale and very knowledgeable and friendly staff.Park is very clean and offers shade and sitting throughout the path. Very glad I stopped by.

A while back I visited this place for the first time and I'll say I was impressed with what they have available here for our folk. So much so I ended up giving them a bunch of money to use how they see fit. Anyone who has Nordic blood aught to visit at least once in their life.

Zoo

Zoos & Aquariums

Roosevelt Park Zoo, established in 1921, is North Dakota's oldest zoo and home to a diverse range of animals including big cats, bears, bison, river otters, reptiles, and birds. The zoo has steadily grown since its humble beginnings with just a male bison from Montana. Despite setbacks like the floods in 2011, the zoo has been accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums.

A diamond in the Magic City! One of my favorite places in town. The Minot Zoo is a fantastic place to spend an afternoon! There are multiple new animal enclosures and they are continuing to add more each year. The staff is always friendly and the grounds are well maintained and facilities are clean. There are so many different animal exhibits showcasing a wide variety of creatures. There is plenty of space so it never feels too crowded, and there are plenty of activities for youngsters to participate in as they wander from area to area. The snack shack offers great treats to enjoy as you wander the area. The variety and size of the Minot zoo is outstanding and just keeps getting better each year! When anyone asks about the best things to do when visiting Minot, the Zoo is always at the top of my list.

Eddie B — Google review

Nice little zoo, pretty clean and being updated with additional things soon. Several of the animals were not out as its still to cold here. The ones that were out looked healthy and relatively happy. Not crowded at all...small gift shop, overall a pretty fun day outside. :)

Jay B — Google review

Never disappoints! Lots of area to cover, make sure to stay hydrated and I recommend bringing sunblock. Animals are most likely not to be active on the hotter days. The train ride is a good way to see the zoo so you can decide where you want to walk to and spend more time in certain areas. The zoo has different memberships available that come with a wide variety of incentives. Definitely worth checking out especially if you have a family. They have a gift shop there loaded with awesomeness. There is so much more I'm not remembering to mention. No I was not paid for this review lol, just enjoy going to the zoo.

Such a cute little zoo. Very unique animals. My kiddos sure had a great time. I wish they had more wagons but seems they only had a few. Definitely would recommend this place. The prices weren’t bad at all.

Fair admission prices and… ANIMALS!!!! Who doesn’t love seeing animals? Ok, so sometimes I have a hard time seeing some animals in captivity and not in “the wild”.. I do know that some places use the opportunity to help certain species/animals (ie: research, injuries, to avoid extinction, etc.), but whether or not this place does that, I do not know for sure (do your research if this is a concern for you.)I do know that there were signs up for certain animals, from their doctors, explaining their ailments/conditions, if any.I’ll be honest, I did not look into it further as we were passing through and I’m a sucker for any animal; I just wanted to squish them all and take them home. Apparently, that’s not allowed though. The staff was knowledgeable. One lady stopped while we were admiring a.. ok, so I don’t remember the proper name for it.. it was a cross between a zebra and a horse but comes from the giraffe family.. that one (see pic). She told us where they come from and about their ability to suck their eyes into their head to avoid getting branches etc. in their eyes. This is something I wanted to see in person. That it didn’t happen. But what a weird piece of information I will carry with me forever, about an animal that I call Zeraffe, but only because the correct name still escapes me.Penguins: adorable. Birds: beautiful. Monkeys: weird af but amazing. Giraffes: so cute I now want one of my own.Highly recommend.. apparently there’s a water park and a kids section; we did not see those as we were 4 adults who would have stuck out like a sore thumb in those sections. Also, they have a sloth. A SLOTH! Apparently, holding him is not allowed either. Yes, I did ask. A few times.

Enrica C — Google review

So sad to report that the zoo was a bust! The 1st picture that comes up is a zebra (my favorite) well they moved them out of state! No zebras, no giraffes, no red panda! Those are the top 3 we wanted to see! Saw some birds. That was the highlight! Don’t recommend at all. Paid 24.00 to walk around a nice park and buy a 3.00 soda!

Carla J — Google review

This zoo is pretty impressive. I would highly recommend a visit. It was only 20 bucks for me and my husband. They have giraffe feedings, a train ride, and small concessions.

Ambrosia C — Google review

Our trip to Roosevelt Zoo was wonderful. The price was very reasonable ($25 for 1 adult, 1 senior, and 1 teenager.) The Zoo offers an aviary, tigers, a lion, bears, giraffes, bison, penguins, a petting zoo, and so many more! Strollers are available to rent for $2 and benches are available for those needing to rest throughout the zoo. Staff were very friendly and interacted with spectators while feeding the animals.

Star D — Google review

It is a small zoo, but you can easily burn 2 hours looking at all the amazing animals and birds. The park was well kept and staff were friendly. The concessions stand had a nice little variety of drinks, snacks and food items. Ample shade in much of the park. I definitely recommend getting to the park early or later in the day to see the red pandas, sadly we missed them on our visit. Definitely family friendly and worth the visit.

Michael ( — Google review

I went with my son on a Sunday, it wasn't crowded at all. We were able to purchase our tickets with no wait time. The zoo offers an experience to see many of the normal animals most zoo's have. But, they have a brown bear, Yak's, and wolves too. Their aviary is also very nice. The staff are all so kind and helpful. We would recommend visiting if you have the opportunity.

Bridget W — Google review

Really well kept zoo. A wide variety of animals, way more varied than you would expect for the size/location. Animals generally seem happy and not stressed. The tiger enclosure in particular is cool. Staff are always really friendly, especially Jim who drives the train. Very reasonably priced entry, especially if you buy the annual pass. The carousel is only 25c a go. My toddlers absolutely love it here. You do have to enter and exit through the gift shop area, which can sometimes be annoying to bring strong willed kids through.

Katie S — Google review

Exhibits were really great! You can see how much the zookeepers care and love their animals. Great job guys from a former keeper! Will be back for sure. Fantastic smaller zoo with a variety of animals. Great for the little kids, easy to see the animals, good variety but not so big they get restless.l.

Katie T — Google review

Not much too see a family outing maybe small children yes it’s always to good to get out and see new things and explore your surroundings I believe it’s worth at least one visit

Putney P — Google review

None of the animals are too shy so it gives a great observation environment. I don't think any other zoo I've been to had animals who were all up front and social like the animals here. I watched the tigers and lions playing amongst themselves. You can tell these animals are happy here and it isn't too busy at all.

Michael R — Google review

Did not visit the zoo..just met a friend at the park.4 stars because it's still a beautiful and peaceful place..but .the trees missing..the size of the stumps that remain showing the age and years they survived is sad.It is a huge difference.

Connie J — Google review

If you happen to be in the Minot area, check this zoo out. It is absolutely beautiful and the habitats for the animals are well kept and thought out. There were plenty of staff throughout the zoo, which to me is a good sign. The children’s area is designed perfectly to encourage young children to learn and explore. There is a nice changing/ nursing area as well. I can’t wait to revisit this zoo, they clearly have a great plan, not only for the animals but the visitors also.

Cindy M — Google review

It is an amazing small zoo! Very clean too! It is very fun.

My wife and I really enjoyed this zoo; especially the personal giraffe feeding which was only $5/person and you get to hand feed the giraffes lettuce. The zoo itself isn't overly large and easy to walk yet had a nice selection of animals to enjoy. The female tiger had 3 very active and entertaining cubs. The male Tiger was sleeping above us on a catwalk and actually drooled on us when he woke up.The staff are very nice and helpful. The animals look happy and healthy. The enclosures allow you get up and close with some of the animals.Definitely will be going back the next time we come to Minot.

Adam H — Google review

Love this Zoo, and they got in Amur leopards! This was a great zoo and all the animals seemed to have more than enough space and were happy! (The tortoises were having "Happy time" but that just shows how comfortable the animals were in their environments. I watched the youn male tiger attempt to murder his play ball in tje water for quite a while it was hilarious.

Sights & Landmarks

Museum dedicated to the historic Lewis & Clark Expedition, with hands-on exhibits & a shop.

Great educational experience. The staff was very helpful. We love that they offer a Jr. Ranger program too!

Catherine W — Google review

Wonderful museum with two different ways to experience Lewis and Clark history. A modern facility with stunning art pieces and displayed artifacts. The other is a short drive to a full size reproduction of L&Cs encampment. This structure is filled with tons of replica items to touch and feel. Our guide was a chipper young lady named Cameron. Gave a nice presentation, answered questions, and added cute little personal remarks about time period comparisons that made the tour fun.

Pete Z — Google review

Lots of information here about what the expedition brought with them, how they got started, and their adventures here in ND. One entrance fee of $8 per person gets you into this museum as well as fort Mandan.PS. The jingle dresses in the gift shop do fit American dolls.

Ellie A — Google review

Great stop. Tons of dress up options for kids of all ages.

Gm T — Google review

Will come back when the outdoor fort is open! This is where the expedition wintered and stayed the longest so want the full tour. The interpretive center was great and the gentleman working gave us some great help. This is also a highway rest stop so nice facilities as well.

Verlee G — Google review

Lovely rest stop/ museum if you wish to go in. There's a souvenir store and the bathrooms were clean. Good amount of parking and picnic area as well.

Terri H — Google review

Very nice place that's a lot bigger than it looks. Take your kids and have them do the junior Ranger thing. The oath at the end is awesome, although a little long we loved it as we heard a little girl take her junior Ranger oath. Plus, it's not just about Lewis and Clark. They talk about much more than I didn't know about and about the origins of farming in the area. We didn't go to the ban deck view. Wish we had now. It looked too have an amazing view. Oh, and just give yourself 5 to 10 minutes to get to the fortThey have tours on the hour. We almost missed the turn, if you get to the dirt road, you just passed it. And at the dead end loop there is a beautiful view of the river and lots of paths to walk in the area.

David L — Google review

Informative staff, wonderful exhibits…my only issue was that I did not allow enough time.

Marie — Google review

An easy, educational day trip from Bismarck. This interpretive centre is also a rest stop on US83. The museum has done a nice job depicting the events in a chronological manner. There are also ample artifacts, from surveying equipment, weaponry of the time to a preserved prairie dog. Admission also includes a guided tour of the reconstructed Fort Mandan. Although the ruins of the fort are nowhere to be found, possibly due to the change in course of the Missouri River over time, it is believed that the expedition team constructed Fort Mandan in the vicinity of the Hidatsa people.

Small U — Google review

We have been here several times. Each time I discover something new. Love the art galleries. The kids favorite area was the farm area. They also liked digitally painting a scene.

Suzy B — Google review

Well designed Interpretative Center for one of the most historic discovery tours of new land ever done. Incredible displays, great history, very broad range of topics.

Chris W — Google review

This is a large building with lots of history and hands on for kids...any age. Spend a hour or more. Gift store and bathrooms.Worth the admission. 2 authentic items here on display. You can walk around outside with more items to look at. If you enjoy America's history this place is for you.

AH — Google review

AMAZING! Had so fun on the tour, the tour guide through the rebuilt Fort Mandan; Grace, absolutely crushed it with information and quizzes. The interpretive center has a great selection books and the info around the center was vast. I walked away learning so much more than I had previously known. 100% recommend the $8 for the pass.Every employee loved the history of L&C and so much more. It was truly a pleasure to converse in conversation in history.Don’t pass out on learning about Fort Mandan and the winter of 1804/05. There is so much more…

Jonathan J — Google review

An awesome little unexpected gem. Would recommend to anyone

Martha M — Google review

Extremely well done museum with lots to see and many hands-on things for kids to try on. I learned information there that I didn't know, and I've read several books on Lewis and Clark. Well worth the time and very friendly staff..

Zoo

Zoos & Aquariums

Dakota Zoo, situated in Sertoma Park on the east bank of the Missouri River, is North Dakota's largest zoo. It spans 90 acres and is home to over 600 animals representing 125 species. The zoo offers a diverse range of wildlife including tigers, grizzlies, and a large grazing animal area.

This was my first trip here and I loved it!!!! There were so many animals and the opportunity to feed the goats and prairie dogs! There was plenty of space on the walking trails and it wasn't too crowded. I grabbed a bag of gems to sleuth before we left. It was worth it but be warned, the water will stain your fingers blue for a few days. Would 10/10 recommend and will definitely be going back again!

Anna R — Google review

Omgeee I loved it maybe because I don’t see animals like that in Florida but this zoo is amazing. We saw camels , bisons , donkeys , grizzly bears, wolfs and the list goes on . It was very spacious and no big crowds which was another plus. I love this zoo!!

Hiya L — Google review

love this place. visited on tuesday for the first time and lady at the front was very accommodating. there’s a huge variety of animals. even though i came on a weekday, it was somewhat crowded so that’s nice. there’s a cute gift shop by the front that’s surprisingly cheap from other places. if you want to go on a train ride on a weekday, i suggest coming after 4 pm because most of the drivers are high schoolers i believe? btw if you buy food for the farm animals, make sure you use a dispenser that’s somewhat full, if you don’t, there’s a good chance nothing will come out but it’s no big deal. will definitely come back!

Ali — Google review

Visited from out of town and spent family time at the Dakota Zoo.I'm used to bigger zoos that are very crowded and the animals are 20 feet away. I was expecting to see animals I see at my home zoo; I was wrong. The variety and habitats of the animals is fun and interesting. The zoo was not crowded. My family could wander around at their own pace. The zoo is very well covered by trees which provide shade in many places. The paths are a bit run down, but fine for wheelchairs and strollers. We did not have a map of the zoo which made it confusing to me. My daughter knew her way around and there are info signs periodically to show the exhibit locations.I did not see many food stands that I'm used to in bigger zoos. I think everything is near the entrance. There is a petting zoo at the entrance as well.

Adrian N — Google review

There were lots of animals out and active. The price of $14 per adult was not bad either. Make sure you wear your walking shoes since it is a big place.

Matt D — Google review

Large variety of animals! Some of the enclosures are a little small but overall great fun. They have two trains to take around the facility. Reasonable pricing.

Laura C — Google review

Everyone was super nice and shared a lot of cool info about the animals. Got a nice tour along with getting the chance to pet snakes! Only issue I would say I had was almost tripping a few times on the uneven paths. The rest of the park was very nice and was bigger than I thought it was gonna be with lots of cool animals! Thank you for the awesome visit!

Austen C — Google review

Fun, fun, fun! We’ve visited here for many years. It’s such a welcoming place. There is so much to do and see. It’s a refreshing change from the Texas zoo’s.

Brittany S — Google review

Fun zoo with a good amount of stuff to look at. Staff was friendly. It was hot today, there are NO drinking fountains. They do sell 20oz bottles of water for 4 dollars, huge ripoff. They have all the spigots locked too.

Todd J — Google review

The zoo is fairly well put together. There were a few animals that should have had better enclosures.Better signage placement for almost all the animals explaining what they are, do they have names, etc would also be nice. The goats were my favorite

Jill L — Google review

I went to the zoo today with my mother and my aunt, it was a nice stay, there were lots of animals to see outside, and you can spend your time there well, we will definitely come back, thank you for the stay

Jan E — Google review

Keepers were cute and wild happenings were off the chain and informative!! Love the trading cards. Obsessed with the carnivores Namely the otters, tigers, leopards, small cats, foxes, wolves and almost every animal to be honest

Molly S — Google review

This is a beautiful place to go. The walk around the facility is beautiful. The grizzlies are my favorite, along with the elk exhibit. There are penguins here, too. There's fun activities to do with the kids as well.

Kitty K — Google review

My kids really enjoyed the zoo here it’s very nice and they got to feed the animals we are originally from the RGV956 and it was such a great experience here at Dakota zoo not a big zoo but the price is fair .

Clara E — Google review

We love going to the zoo! So cool they added penguins; we could just sit and watch them for the longest time. Right along with the moneys, bears, wolves, otters… The train is fun, too! One year we even stopped by for their public Easter egg event; we recommend it!

Stephanie M — Google review

Penguin feeding was fun to watch. One Camel followed us putting on a show. Had a great time. Wish I lived here so I could volunteer at the zoo.

Heidi O — Google review

For a small state this Zoo was awesome. I absolutely loved how the animals were up close & were all out for everyone to see. This Zoo looks small from the outside but is really big. I love the feeling that they are all about the animals rather than profit. Make sure to take quarters cause you can buy pet food for the goats to eat which is so much fun for all ages.

Lynn C — Google review

Great zoo with beautiful walking paths. Lots of animals are visible. The indoor monkey exhibit is our favorite.

Jill K — Google review

We really enjoy access to anything in North Dakota. I always expect mote animals with the ground you cover walking, buy my kids love it.

Cassandra A — Google review

Excellent zoo fun for kids and adults-with tigers, giraffes, bears, monkeys, bison, lemurs, camel, alligator, tortoise, fox, wolf, alligator, llama, pigs, goat, dear, and many types of birds like eagle, emu, pheasant and swans.

Vince D — Google review

Well kept surprisingly large zoo. The tram ride was good to get an idea of how to get back to animals you want to look at closer. New otter enclosure was very nice. Lots of birds and raptors.

Rymats — Google review

We had a perfect day at the zoo. It wasn't too hot so the animals were quite active. It wasn't too busy, and it was very clean. They really have put a lot of effort into the landscaping. There were a lot of baby animals which was fun. We were all impressed that the animals looked very content, not stressed at all.

Emily K — Google review

We went on a weekday and it was pretty empty from customers. It was fantastic. From petting animals, feeding them, and just watching them interact was lots of fun. They have a great selection of animals you don't see in the south! I suggest go earlier when. It's cooler and the animals are much more active!

Museum

Archaeological museum

The North Dakota Heritage Center & State Museum provides exhibits on the state's geological prehistory and early cultures, including details on Norwegian farmers and nuclear missiles. As the largest museum and archive in the state, it offers a comprehensive view of North Dakota's past and present. Recently renovated, the museum is family-friendly with a treehouse for children to play in and free admission. It also features sanitation stations throughout the facility for visitors' safety.

So many great things to see and learn about. If you need further convincing or were second guessing on going, admission is free! We were practically the only people inside. Sanitation stations all around the facility. Family friendly and they even have a treehouse upstairs for the littles to play. My only regret is not taking more pictures.

Rebecca L — Google review

We had so much fun! There was not only a dinosaur (with the skin still on it!) But there was so much more to see and do. I cant believe it was free! The kids had a blast pushing buttons, watching videos, and listing to phones. There was a Case tractor simulator/game the kids had an absolute blast in. We even found something called "the tree house" for kids ages 2-8. It has an actual tree house- complete with green tube slide, fire house, fire truck, exploratory tree- we thought the snail home was super cute, co*ckpit of an airplane, and a ship with kaleidoscopes! Honestly we had so much fun and time just flew by! Could have spent so much more time here.

Susan M — Google review

This place was really neat to walk around. I was kinda concerned since it was free, what it would be like. Lots of really neat history. We had fun hearing story's from our dad about what he used when he farmed as a kid. He was also impressed with what they use now, he hasn't farmed in 60+ years. So fun, we walked over to the capital, and walked around the observation deck. We spent 3+ hours there, and everything was completely free!

Becca S — Google review

As a visitor from down south, I learned a lot of essential and interesting facts about Dakota area Native American history during an 1-hr stop by. Although you could spend many many more hours and lose yourself here. Absolutely worth the time. No purchase of ticket but donation is recommended.

Yang S — Google review

It was much much bigger than we thought! It was so well done. Thoughtfully laid out and in spectacular shape. A must stop!

Nikol R — Google review

Exceptional! And free!!! The building itself is very modern and deceptively big. We were warmly greeted by the gentleman behind the desk, welcoming us to the state and gave us a 3 minute overview of the Center. The special exhibit featured Native storytellers and the land which was very well done with some amazing photography. The three main permanent collections were geologic time, early people’s and yesterday/today. There were so many artifacts, you could easily spend all day and still not see everything - did not know a mummified dinosaur existed. Ended up learning a lot about North Dakota. Well done! And to finish it off, go to the capital building 18 floor observation floor and check out their wall of fame on the main floor. Good way to spend a day.

N F — Google review

What a wonderful experience!!!There was so much to see and it was immaculate. The staff was kind, exhibits were displayed beautifully and this is an amazing place for kids!Free, educational, and great place for lifelong memories.

Jacey ( — Google review

This incredible museum is a must-see for anyone traveling through North Dakota. Most people don’t know it’s here. Perfect place to check out for families and we can’t believe it’s free!

Small S — Google review

The North Dakota Heritage Center was such an amazing place to go see and that fact that it's completely free is fantastic! The exhibits are well-done and a ton of care was put into the design and layout of every aspect of this place. The Center itself is huge and there is SO much breathing room which means almost no one to get in the way and interrupt your time! We're went early afternoon and a couple of small groups of children were there on a field trip, but the place is so big that we only ran into them once and never again - not even in the nearly 3 hours we were roaming and browsing. The taxidermy is certainly museum-quality - absolutely gorgeous! There were some older gentlemen seated near the cafe playing folk music with guitars and singing. As we spent more time at the Center, even more people arrived and were participating. What was especially nice was the volume they were playing at and songs they were saying were not offensive or too distracting to enjoy the exhibits or carry on a private conversation. It made for an especially calm ambience when wandering around and seeing what the Heritage Center had to offer. We visited the center with an almost one and a half year old and found out from an employee here that there is a playplace for children called The Treehouse on the upstairs level. He absolutely LOVED playing here! It was not super busy and it was also absolutely free. With our son being the youngest and the oldest child being maybe 7/8 years old, there was still plenty to interact with without the kids constantly running into each other.

Ashley A — Google review

The North Dakota Heritage Museum is a captivating journey through the state's history. Engaging exhibits, informative displays, and friendly staff make it a must-visit for history enthusiasts.

Ferdinand P — Google review

One of the best museums we’ve been to in our travels. You can spend several hours and learn so much about indigenous culture as well as natural wonders. The Geology and Paleontology exhibits are amazing but the Native American storytelling was our favorite part.

Gracie H — Google review

Its alright. Definitely worth checking out. Its pretty disappointing that I heard another addition is being pursued. Tax dollars could be spent in far better ways.

D — Google review

Considering this museum is excellent and I only budgeted 70m, tomorrow, before leaving the area, I'm going back and retracing today's rushed footsteps and exploring some more 👍

Marcel L — Google review

Great museum with fantastic and enthusiastic staff..! Seeing 'Dakota' alone was worth the effort..! How many mummified dinosaur skins are out there? Lots of great information about the state of North Dakota, too.

Ryan S — Google review

So much to see! Several sections of varied content, kid play area, audio informationals, interactive educating gems scattered throughout. Of course there is a cloud spot and gift shop. This is located right beside the ND capital building with a beautiful garden.

Crystal M — Google review

This place is a must-see FREE museum!!! If you have kids, definitely go! The museum is great but there is also a “tree house” on the top floor! Kids of all ages were entertained! There’s a space ship and fire truck and so many other fun things, if we lived here we would visit all the time! Such a cool place!!! We will visit every time we are in ND! So much that the photos don’t even capture! They also have a super cute gift shop, great place to buy souvenirs that aren’t stupid. It is such an incredible place!!! Oh yes, and let me repeat…. IT’S FREEEEEEE!!!!!

Mariah H — Google review

Great free museum with a a dinnomummy or a dinosaur body part with preserved skin. The architecture is nice. There is a very cool dinosaur exhibit and Native American exhibit. The history of North Dakota has cool industry points. It’s kid friendly but interesting for adults. Entry is free but there is a cafe and gift shop. The museum is open relatively early and has parking.

Specialty Museums

The National Buffalo Museum is a log building showcasing Native American art and artifacts, located within a recreated frontier village. The museum provides visitors with an opportunity to learn about the history of bison herds that once roamed the prairies. Additionally, the museum features albino bisons residing in the area. Alongside the museum, the village offers a chance for visitors to explore its pioneer town.

Great experience! Every time I visit this museum I enjoy the fascinating collection of artifacts and displays. It's peaceful, pleasant, and certainly a gem worth visiting! RECOMMEND

JD W — Google review

I was driving along Interstate 94 and saw a huge buffalo standing on a hill off to the north. I decided to Check it out and discovered it was part of the National Buffalo Museum. This turned out to be a wonderful stop. The National Buffalo Museum is located near a frontier Village and highlights the history of the Buffalo that once roamed the plains and today’s efforts to preserved the remaining herds. The highlight of the museum is a white buffalo named White Cloud who was once part of the Museums small herd. White Cloud died in 2016 and is displayed as part of an exhibit inside the museum. I spent about an hour walking through the museum and thing walked about a quarter mile out to Dakota Thunder, the 25-foot tall 60-ton concrete buffalo that I had seen from the Interstate. It is billed as “the worlds largest buffalo” and just has to be one of North Dakota’s most popular Roadside attractions. This is an excellent museum and a perfect place to break up the drive along I-94.

Garry T — Google review

This was a very interesting museum. I learned more about the bison. They have a viewing area where you can go outside and see the bison out in the grass area. There is a small gift shop attached. Bathrooms were clean. Staff was very nice. Cost is $8 for adults and $6 for seniors. I don't remember the cost for children. There is minimal RV parking outside the museum.

Donna S — Google review

This stop stands out as one of the biggest surprises on an 8000 mile road trip thru the western US. They have the 'worlds largest buffalo'!! The museum and pioneer town are nicely done. Probably some other stuff I missed!

James R — Google review

We spent the better part of an hour or so here. I wasn't expecting much, honestly, but was pleasantly surprised at the depth and nuance of the exhibits. From the history (good and bad) of bison in the country to their present state, the museum artfully and honestly tells the story. Exhibits were accessible to all ages and the messaging was clear. Protect these animals! A highlight of our trip to North Dakota for sure. And be sure to visit the old town and get a picture with the World's Largest Buffalo, too. All within walking distance.

Uncle R — Google review

Great little museum, awesome gift shop, and kind attendants working. Wish I could have seen the live buffalo, not sure where they were at

Resa L — Google review

Really informative! Lots of displays and hands on exhibits. Buffalo roaming the fields. Terrific little recreated town. Great history and of course a giant buffalo statue! So worth the visit!

Julia L — Google review

Worth a visit for the items on display and its proximity to the interstate. Outdoor walking through the small western style town. Sweeping views.

Michelle V — Google review

We stopped here to see the World's Biggest Buffalo (we used to be bison ranchers), and we stayed to take in the old western town and the museum. What an awesome place to explore! It's not too far off the main interstate either. We really enjoyed the museum and we spent way too much money in the gift shop - worth it! Haha. There isn't a ton of sparking on site, but enough, and there were adequate handicap parking spots for us for my Mom.The young ladies running the entry of the museum were absolute sweethearts and super helpful. They packed our breakable items perfectly, and those items made it all the way home to Ontario. If you're looking for somewhere to explore this summer, this would be a great place to start!

Cali W — Google review

Something fun to do while heading down I-94. Definitely a tourist attraction, but enjoyable. The small museum provides a 17 minute film that covers the progression of their namesake animal. There is enough interesting things in the museum and pioneer village to keep kids or grandkids interested for a bit while the family gets to stretch their legs. Good for a 30-45 minute break.

Sj M — Google review

We intentionally stopped at the Discovery Center on our way back to Ohio because we were excited about the chance you see buffalo up close on their your. We were very very disappointed to learn that tours are only done on Friday and Saturday. No where is that Information provided. Museum was good but did not make up for the disappointment.

Charleen M — Google review

We really enjoyed this museum. Great hands on exhibits for children. Beautiful play room for kids. Educational experience for all of us.

Mike K — Google review

Reasonably priced and very informative, this was a great stop on our route (about halfway) from Fargo to Bismarck North Dakota. Lots of buffalo knowledge and Native American artifacts made the museum very interesting. The plight of the Buffalo at the hands of European settlers was heartbreaking, and the fact that places like this helped to bring them back is refreshing to say the least.

Zac C — Google review

Very nice center. Info on buffalo and how they are making a big come back.

Kevin W — Google review

It’s very informative and well done, reasonably priced and not far off the interstate. They also have a very nice gift shop!

Laura L — Google review

Our family just had the most incredible time on a pasture tour with Ilana and Gabby. We have been to Yellowstone and Custer State Park which are famous for their bison. But this tour was something special. The passion for these great animals was evident by our guide’s wealth of information, enthusiasm, and her genuine interest in our experience. After a short drive (about 5 min) to a huge beautiful pasture, the bison came running to us. We got to toss treats to them and watch them interact with each other up close from the safety of the vehicle; (think African safari type vehicle). They even had baby bison in the herd. We watched them wallow in their dirt holes, and the babies nursing. Our guide Ilana even took a family picture of us with the bison in the background. We learned so much and can’t recommend this tour enough. It is a little pricey, about $50 per person but it is an experience you will never forget. It is worth every penny.

Grizzly R — Google review

The advertising for this site indicated that we could observe live buffalo. We were at the park for nearly 2 hours and didn't see any. There are some observation areas adjacent the visitor center which includes some mounted binoculars. The small buffalo museum has some interesting items, photos and artifacts, but not really much there. Large parking area which includes parking for large RV's and trailers. The adjacent "old west" town didn't have much to offer or see. Other than taking a photo of the worlds largest buffalo, and taking a short walk through the town, there is not much here.

C R — Google review

Super friendly staff!! Lots of info and able to see a couple bison heard from the parking lot after taking very informative tour through the museum!!

Nick E — Google review

Amazing museum on "America's mammal"! Large display of information, artifacts and interactive exhibits for kids and adults alike. The museum just seems refreshed and new, very clean, and well cared for. Check on the herd roaming around too!

Fun & Games

Inspired by nursery rhymes, this theme park features a miniature train, castle & other attractions.

We love Storybook Land! A great destination for a weekend or even just an overnight trip to Aberdeen, depending on distance from you. We go on the train and walked through each time we go see family there. Never gets old and it's fun for all ages.

Rikki Z — Google review

What a sweet gem! It was such a great place to visit. The rides are great for all ages, and the many playgrounds they have each have their own unique fun. They even have awesome little zoo and an awesome petting zoo. Not to mention, you can get a tasty snack. We definitely appreciated that it was not overwhelming, but they have so many fun things to do while you are here.

Morgan F — Google review

Spent over 2 hours here, could have spent more time. Wanted to see the animal area, but we had to get on the road. Went on a Monday morning. Not crowded at all. Statues are fun, but some are odd looking. Bathrooms are nice & clean. Enty of places to sit, play, or have a meal. Loved the rides. Park is free, rides are a dollar each if you get a punch card. Staff is helpful & kind. Easy to get around.

Jeanette M — Google review

If you are anywhere near Aberdeen, a visit to Storybook Land and Wylie Park is a must. You’ll find fun for all ages with exhibits and rides reminiscent of nursery rhymes and fables. You’ll find lots of uniquely themed playgrounds for the kids as well as a train and small rollercoaster. Don’t miss Dorothy’s house with simulation tornado and the yellow brick road with talking trees. There is also a stage show several days a week so check the schedule before you go. Snack bar was open as well. We found the employees running the rides to be very nice and the park to be very clean and well maintained.

Absolute A+ !!!If you are traveling in the area- don’t skip it! We almost did, thinking it was going to be some rinky dink tourist trap….BOY, were we pleasantly surprised! It is a magical place with TONS to do for the family! Admission is free. They have a few kids rides that you can buy tickets for.I would absolutely skip walking the wildlife path- take the train instead- you go through it and see everything. We kept saying over and over how awesome it was- 100% go!

AFFORDABLE FAMILY ATTRACTION/DESTINATION- Storybook Land and Wylie Campground are a perfect place to spend a long weekend with the kids. Storybook Land has multiple rides, including a train, balloon ride, carousel and the new Barnyard ride. Admission is FREE and rides are $3.00 or 10/$25. There is also mini golf, go karts, a free zoo, & a beach on the grounds. The adjacent campground, Wylie Park, is also a great place to stay and affordable. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

S F — Google review

So much fun for all ages!! A unique experience most any time of the year. Make it a dsy or a week, there is plenty to do at Wiley Park from Storybook Land and the Land of Oz, to the balloon ride and roller coaster. There is a zoo and a train. They have an antique carousel. It is magical seeing your favorite nursery rhymes and stories come to life! The park also offers putt putt, bumper boats and go karts. There is a beautiful campground, swimming hole and pinic areas too.

Lots of fun. We spent more than three hours in the park, taking our time to let the kids play and reminisce with family. It was pretty hot outside but there was plenty of shade and we were able to get our water bottles filled with water and ice from the concessions. Park entry is free and the rides are priced very low.

Our exchange student said it best. "Its like Disneyland, but free and less busy!"We brought our 2 young boys and our exchange student here as a last thing before school started. There is so much to explore and do! Things were reasonably priced. Staff was kind and sweet to our boys. We were so impressed! This is what happens when a community works together to make something valuable and create a legacy. We LOVED it, and will definitely be back!

Great family afternoon. There are Prairie animals and petting zoos, rides, playgrounds, mini golf, camping... something for the whole crew.

Ann R — Google review

Fantastic place for the whole family, especially if you have a special needs child! They have a beautiful sensory park as well as various rides and parks there. The staff will allow you to be with your child on rides if necessary too. The punch card for rides is also great for if you're on a budget.

Amanda T — Google review

This place is wonderful! It’s free and has multiple playgrounds and exhibits! A ten ride punch card is only $25 and all food and drink are incredibly reasonably priced. Also, there’s a great wildlife park that most people miss because it’s in the back. It has bison and llamas, etc. If you have kids 10 and under, you won’t be disappointed in this free park!! We’ve been coming here as adults well before having children.

Natalie W — Google review

We love Storybook Land! The park is well tended and easy to navigate. There are statues, play structures, and rides based on fairytales and nursery rhymes. The back half of the park is dedicated to the Wizard of Oz with a walkthrough from Kansas and the tornado to Oz and the hot air balloons. There is also a small zoo with deer, llamas, elk, bison, and more. The rides and concessions are open in the summer but the park itself remains open for walking from spring to fall. It is free to enter Storybook Land but the rides cost money.I recommend getting a ride pass which is good for ten rides. The rides are geared toward kids. We were told a new ride is being added to the park in 2024.There are many play structures and there’s even an all-abilities playground next to the concessions and merry-go-round pavilion. My favorite time to visit is in the spring when the baby goats have been born. Storybook Land is so peaceful to walk through in the spring.

Denise R — Google review

One of my favorite places that never gets old. Was so excited to finally bring my first born here.

Aaron W — Google review

This is going to sound crazy but I think this place was one of the highlights of my daughter's life. We went camping on the campsite right next to Storybook Land and the next day I kind of surprised her by just walking and said, "Hey, what's this place?" She was 6 when I took her. This place was the PERFECT for her age. She loved the Humpty Dumpty roller coaster the most. I loved all of the Wizard of Oz areas. My favorite was the tornado house. After we played all day at Storybook Land we went to the nearby lake and played in the water and sand. Best day ever!

Jordan E — Google review

A classic FREE attraction for young kids. An amazing collection of playgrounds and attractions. The Land of OZ is an Instagram paradise. Lots of picnic areas, plenty of benches throughout the attractions. The live animal attractions are aging and not full but a nice walk. Reasonably priced concessions and gift shop. Bring quarters for the animal feed and the penny crank. The yellow brick road path is .49 miles and the live animal trail is .59 miles. There is a cute train ride around the park. Dorothy's house is a must do, but can be scary for the very young. There are affordable amusem*nt rides and a very special carousel. The maze is disorienting and small children can become distressed, they should be accompanied. A good size amphitheater is inside the castle. It will take an hour for an adult to see everything, Kids will want to explore and ride, you could spend several hours to most of the day. A real value stop on a road trip. Could make an amazing backdrop for cosplay photos.

Anna M — Google review

What can't I say about Storybook Land? It is an iconic spot in the great South Dakota prairie town of Aberdeen. Kiddos will find the many areas of the park entertaining and grown-ups will feel nostalgic. The grounds are gorgeous with mature trees, manicured landscaping, and sidewalks (even a yellow brick road). They literally have a half dozen, full sized playgrounds spread throughout the park with plenty of benches and shade for grown-ups.It's free to enter, but rides do cost money. Pick up a punch card when you walk in or at a concession stand.Bring water! It's not hard to find, but it's a little tough filling up a water bottle in a fiberglass lion's mouth.

Matt L — Google review

This place is so wonderful. Great place for kids of all ages with so much to do and see. Things are reasonably priced and very nice parks and slides throughout. The train is a fun attraction but my favorite was the air Ballon ride! We will definitely be back again to enjoy the fun!

Indoor sports arena at UND Grand Forks hosting college hockey games & concerts, with 11,600 seats.

Took in a tour of the facility - very impressive and great attention to detail. An amazing place for athletes to grow and compete with a rich history and heritage. It was interesting to learn more about the late Ralph Engelstad and his foundation and the generosity and appreciation they display towards this facility, the athletes and the community. As a former long time facility manager, I was also blown away at how meticulously maintained and cared for this facility is. Everyone clearly takes pride in and appreciates what they have. A good example to follow for sure.

This is the most beautiful sports venue I’ve ever been to, great place to watch hockey.

As hockey pilgrims we came and paid our repects to this iconic arena. Being a fan of a team that frequently loses to the homestead here, I couldn't get too excited, but it is a remarkable arena. If you look good in green, the gift shop has you covered.

Randal B — Google review

One of the best collegiate buildings in the United States. The Ice Arena honors the generous donor and his college Sport.

We visited post college graduation but it would be so cool to watch games here. It's nicer than some NHL arenas.

Tressa D — Google review

This place is awesome! It's a wonderful place to catch a game. The food and beverage options are plentful. I also caught a tour of the place and you see behind the scenes stuff of UND hockey. These folks do a nice job.

Brian P — Google review

One of those rare arenas where there is not a bad seat in the house. I make it back very rarely these days after several years as a hockey season ticket holder, and if there’s a way to swing a visit when I am in town, I always do so.

What a beautiful arena and all around great experience. (Even if my team lost!)

Jennifer P — Google review

The Ralph never fails to entertain! I've been there several times and still haven't found a bad seat in the house. We usually just get the cheap seats up in the 'nose bleeds' but even they offer a great view. The staff is great. They are very professional and well trained. Bathrooms are clean and every where. Tons of food options with prices on point for what they should be.

Luke O — Google review

Phenomenal facility. Beautiful building. Friendly staff. Great time watching a UND game.Prices for drinks and food seemed a bit high for what was offered, even considering market escalation.

Wade H — Google review

This place is always the best place to go on a Friday night. Most of the tickets are under $30 and their food options are amazing. They also have beer and after game busses to popular bars around town.

Chase R — Google review

Beautiful stadium, helpful staff, handicap accessible and very clean.

The pinnacle of greatness. Best hockey venue for college out there. Amazing atmosphere for hockey games and concerts. One of the best in country, it is a must see!The addition of the new jumbotron has taken the experience to the next level. If you are a fan of hockey, add this to your bucket list.

When you visit Fargo-Moorhead, make sure to stop by the visitors center where you can see a replica woodchipper outside and the actual official woodchipper from the movie "Fargo" inside. The visitor's center also offers clean restrooms, free coffee, and plenty of brochures about local attractions. Fans of the movie or TV series will find it a must-see with autographs from the Coen Brothers.

North Dakota Welcome Center Walk of FameThis is a great place to stop and stretch your legs and walk around and see the famous wood chipper from the movie Fargo or at least a replica. My understanding is the real one is located in the building building but was closed when we visited

N M — Google review

This is one of the best visitors centers I have ever been to. This is a must-visit whether you were visiting as your last state for the Best for Last Club like me or planning your trip and in need of a pit stop. It had the famous wood chipper, and a replica outside as well. Can’t say enough nice things about this place.

A D — Google review

Definitely the highlight of Fargo was stopping at the visitors center here. We prepared the night before by watching the film Fargo. We spoke to Wynne here and she had a lot of knowledge.Of course you have to take photos with the wood chippers :) they had some memorabilia from the movie as well. You can pick up a booklet of where to find the painted Bison 🦬 around the city as well, they’re all painted very uniquely.

Joceline L — Google review

Great place to acclimate to Fargo and North Dakota. Extremely friendly and helpful service. Also a great place to pick up your 50th state visit t-shirt - Save the Best For Last!

Sean D — Google review

For fans of the movie or TV series “Fargo” this is a must-see. So fun to see the famous wood hopper in person, complete with socked foot. Super friendly folks in the visitor center are happy to help tourists without being pushy. For geocachers, there is a fantastic cache here, too!

Dina W — Google review

This was a fun stop. Especially to see the wood chipper inside the Center signed by the Coen Brothers. There is a wood chipper outside too but go inside to see that one. There is other Fargo movie memorabilia as well. Cute souvenirs for sale. There is a walk of fame outside where celebrities have placed their feet and hands in cement slabs though I can only assume the winters have done a number on the concrete as many are cracked or hard to read. But you definitely can make out some and still neat to see. Good stop when the area. Also if North Dakota is the 50th state you visit you can get a certificate. "Save the best for last". Apparently it's a state that is usually visited last. Unfortunately, I have a couple more to go so no certificate for me.

Roberta P — Google review

Lots of information at this visitor’s site! The host was very knowledgeable. There were lots of pamphlets for the area as well as North Dakota; of course the wood chipper is a must photo op!

Sheri L — Google review

A must-see visitors center with the original wood shredder from the movie Fargo. Good selection of items to buy to remember Fargo... I'm a visitor. Also, outside is a Walk of Fame of personalities who visited Fargo long ago. Interesting.

Such a wonderful little place filled with great information and perfect gifts! The original “Fargo” wood chipper is a must-see, and the woman inside was so helpful in answering all of our questions and providing information!

Victoria K — Google review

There is a replica woodchipper outside but inside the visitors center is the actual official woodchipper from the movie. You'll know it's legit because the one inside has autographs from the Coen Brothers who made the movie Fargo that starred William H. Macy and Steve Buscemi and Frances McDormand. And once you've gotten those pictures out of the way, the visitor's center has a super clean restroom, free coffee and all the brochures about the area including the museums, the hotels and the attractions.

Bruce K — Google review

This was by far the nicest and most helpful visitor center staff I have met in the US. They had so many good recommendations for activities for families and restaurants too. The souvenir collection was all affordable! We ended up spending way longer in Fargo than planned. Could definitely stay longer if we had time!

Zoo

Sights & Landmarks

The Red River Zoo, formerly a ranch, houses over 300 animals from similar climates including red pandas and meerkats. It is a small zoo with interactive play areas and farm animal attractions that are kid-friendly. Although visitors should not expect a large facility, the staff is pleasant and accommodating. However, some attractions may be closed during colder months.

Appreciating this zoo is all about proper expectations. It’s cute. Not big. Staff is very nice. Kid friendly with interactive play areas. My 10 and 7 year old loved the farm animals and attractions but I’m not sure a rural/local family would have the same experience. We did everything in about 90 minutes on a cold April day when nobody else was in the park. $40 for a family of four.

Josh O — Google review

Love this place. It was so awesome to see the red pandas. The staff were very knowledgeable about the animals. It was super hot the day we went and they have taken measures to ensure the animals are safe on hot days. The place takes about 2 hours. Maybe longer if you have kids. It was about $30.00 for two adults to go. Not a bad price. The layout is really nice because they have lots of AC in every building and lots of shade outside for both humans and animals alike. Totally recommend if you have 2 hours to kill in Fargo. Definitely worth a detour. :)

Pauline B — Google review

It's still cold so many attractions where closed. But this is a great little zoo we have been here several times. Red Panda was not out my daughter was disappointed, but lover the otters digging in the snow.

Dan R — Google review

I love to visit zoos!! I liked this zoo. It's small. When we first walked in the immediate 2 enclosures were missing their animals. The fox's were asleep. Not a good start. Also I was excited to ride the carousel and it was closed for maintenance. What?? We walked into the building and there was just a girl sitting there like a bump on a log. NO workers working on the carousel! On a positive note I really enjoyed seeing the endangered animals and the work that the zoo is doing to protect them. Worth the visit? I guess yes.

Cynthia L — Google review

The Red Pandas, grey wolves, & the Sichuan Takins were cool to see. I was also impressed with the number of camels. This facility does a good job at breeding animals to help get them off of the endangered species list. I wish the zoo had more than 1 animal in some enclosers. It took us 1 hr to walk all the way through with a wheelchair. Kids could spend all day on the play equipment. The cafe is pricey & the selection is limited, but it is OK for the foot traffic.

Rachel G — Google review

This is a fantastic zoo. It has an amazing variety of interesting animals I've not seen in much larger zoos. Their curation is phenomenal.

Lisa G — Google review

The Red River Zoo might not be the largest, but it is very well laid out and has a fun assortment of animals! They also have a petting zoo where you can feed alpaca, goats, and a cow (though she wasn’t feeling very sociable on the day we visited, lol)! They also do a LOT of conservation work that I never would have expected. Definitely a good way to spend an afternoon! I would recommend going in spring or fall, as during summer it’s very hot and most animals seemed content to sleep away the heat, but it was very fun nevertheless.

Rosalyn F — Google review

Great zoo! We were visiting from out of state, and we wanted things to do with our family. It is well worth the visit. The animals are well cared for, the carousel is fun, and the staff is super friendly and helpful!

D. C — Google review

The zoo was very clean. Lots of animals to look at. Enclosure looked spacious, and everyone looked happy. I especially really liked their bald Eagle exhibit.

Jadelynn D — Google review

I had so much fun meeting all the animals at the Red River Zoo. I have never been so close to an otter and the friendliest of deer. The chameleon was so photogenic, it seemed to be smiling. Thank you so much to the staff and caretakers that make such a wonderful experience possible!

A M — Google review

The employees were super friendly! The animals were adorable and were happy to come up to check us out. The exhibits were all well kept.

Alyssa W — Google review

This was such a cute little zoo! Had it not been so cold, we would've spent more time there! We were very surprised to see lots of indoor viewing places that were nice and warm and had bathrooms! The animals were very interactive! A wolf came running towards us like a puppy and seemed to want our attention! For as small as it is, it's beautiful and charming, and I recommend this to anyone! Sometimes less is more; and I mean that you can spend so much more time enjoying the scenery and animals! Rare ones at that! We truly enjoyed this zoo more than was anticipated! If we ever end up in Fargo again, we'll be sure to come again! Thanks so much!

The A — Google review

Showed up on a Tuesday at noon. It was pretty slow it seemed like, no waiting to see exhibits (though most of the animals were napping anyway). I'm pretty introverted so it felt like the perfect day.

Nathanael N — Google review

It's a cute little zoo and pretty well maintained. There's not a ton of diversity but it did advertise that it houses animals from similar climates so don't expect to see lions or polar bears. There are some unique animals like the Pallas Cats and the Takin. For the price I feel like we definitely got our money's worth. It was $50 for two adults and two children. The discovery barn and farmyard animals are always a hit, the kids love feeding the goats and alpacas. There's a couple different playgrounds to take breaks. There was only one food vendor that we saw but had easy okay options like tacos in a bag, uncrustables, etc.Almost everything is outside but there are a few different buildings to get out of the heat. With two younger kids (5 & 4) I felt like this zoo was the perfect size, we were able to see everything and take our time in 2 hours with a break for food.

Heidi ( — Google review

Great family zoo.Small, easily walkable footprint.Generally well maintained.Knowledgeable staff.Paper handouts didn’t list daily educational programs or “feeding” programs.Several animal habitats didn’t match the paper handout - moved or missing altogether.Wished the demonstration prairie garden out front and Asian interior garden plants were labeled.Wished for shade - trees in the parking lot.

Sanne K — Google review

There is some great displays, the concessions were great, the play area was fun. I did think there were more animals tho. I hope the community can be more proactive in keeping this zoo going. It could use some support and upkeep. Overall the children loved it.

Denise R — Google review

Cute and quaint zoo in Fargo. Price was reasonable and the indoor carousel was an added bonus (only $3/person to ride). Good variety of animals. It had rained the night before so the play area was wet and dirty but otherwise looked good for kids.

Jonathan S — Google review

Beware of the Merry-go-round. It will ruin your visit.Would love to praise and give a high rating, because for a zoo in a small city it is really nice. However, the visit to merry-go-round at the end was not merry at all and ruined our day. The ride is sponsored by I assume is a local family and they either hate kids, or would be appalled with how something with their name on it is being ran. After spending $3 a kid to ride (which is ridiculous on it's own) the little girl operating it stopped it right away and told us we had to get off because one of our kids was crying. Thou shall not cry on their very important ride apparently. Our other two kids were devastated, which naturally lead to them crying. It tainted what was a great family vacation. For further context the crying child was actually not crying but screaming with glee because he loved it so much. Even if he was crying, that is no reason to kick a kid off a merry-go-round. Young kids cry... Always! Happy, sad, hurt, excited. They are always crying. Trust me. You can't stop life for a crying child.Disney has the most strict standards for these kinds of things and they wouldn't stop the carousal for a screaming kid. (We have family that works there, we asked them and they laughed at how stupid the idea is).Get over yourselves power tripping teenagers running the ride and just let parents parent our children. Believe me, if there was a problem I don't know any parents that wouldn't address it better than you can. I don't need you telling my kid he can't cry.

Brian H — Google review

It was really hot the day we visited this zoo. However, they had areas that were well shaded. There were a couple of buildings that were airconditioned. The zoo was pretty well laid out. We paid extra to do the Red Panda experience. Totally worth it! They also have some animals that you don't see in all zoos. You can get through the zoo in about 1 to 1-1/2 hours. Enjoyed walking through this zoo.

Sue J — Google review

Super fun zoo! Had a great experience here. The keepers were so helpful and kind, they clearly love their animals so much. Love to see that in a zoo. Absolutely beautiful grounds, with a fantastic staff, couldn’t ask for anything more. Would definitely recommend bringing your family here. And I got to see my tattoo in person! So fun! 10/10

Maddy M — Google review

Perfect place for an aunty and nephew day-of-fun! I took my 3 year-old nephew to the zoo for an afternoon. He had a BLAST. On a rarity, we got to see Olivia the 16 year-old porcupine active during the day. Nephew really enjoyed saying hello and waving to all of the animal friends. We also had fantastic viewing of the bald eagle, monkeys and red pandas. Stopped to play on the playground and enjoy some dip-and-dots. Nephew thought the lion mouth water fountain was “so cool.” Of course, we grabbed a new snake stuffy on our way out. Great day!

Kelly F — Google review

Having been to many zoos, this one impressed me greatly! Many educational signs, easily accessed bathrooms, nice walking paths, and many different animals. Red River Zoo is AZA accredited and aids in wildlife conservation. Many different things to do for kids and adults alike. I'll definitely be back!

Points of Interest & Landmarks

Lake Itasca, located in Itasca State Park, is a serene glacial lake and the primary source of the Mississippi River. Visitors can witness the birth of the mighty river as it flows out of Lake Itasca on its 2552-mile journey to the Gulf of Mexico. The area around the lake holds cultural significance as it is the traditional home of Dakota and Ojibwe peoples. The park boasts vast pine forests, over 100 lakes, and numerous trails for hiking and biking.

One of my favorite lakes and state parks to visit. Kids love playing in the water. The hike to the eater is short and simple. Very kid friendly and plenty of things to do here. Very clean. Can picnic, swim, fish etc. Always a good day here and well spent.

What an amazing experience, trip, pictures, videos, EVERYTHING! ❤The nature and the preparation that surrounds the place is great and beautiful. I know I will be short on words and details but will try my best. The drive: Getting there starts to turn on the magic of the whole area. Of your GPS says 1 hour, plan for three because you will want to stop at so many place for 10-20 minutes! Drive by a tiny towns where people mind their business yet start casual conversations with the friendliest smiles. The conglomerate of areas: lakes and parks you get to visit while going around and seeing so many things Lake Itasca has to offer. I don't know why but always wanted the experience of soaking my feet and "crossing" the Mississippi river, well this is the place! 👍👌. Everything is a bike ride away. SO MANY BEAUTIFUL PLACES!Lake Itasca has many natural views and activities and many more organized like rent bikes kayaks etc. But all in all whether a day trip or a week long camping, I guarantee you it will he the vacation of a lifetime. I loved it.The views: Depending on time of the year your views and experience will vary. During he summer is he most beautiful blue sky and green shrugs and blue refreshing water areas.Walk, swim, bike, jog, run, canoe, kayak, paddle, retreat and think, OMG you name it. Family, friends, solo travel. You will come a whole new person and with memories for a lifetime.I cannot say enough great things. Minnesota might have really white winters but spring summer and fall are amazing as well. And Lake Itasca surely represents well one of the many hundreds of natural areas to visit. They are clean and safe so we must keep them that way. Care for each other and watch each other.

WOW! Lucky enough to see this park glowing! They are working on a retention project so we could not get right down by the water but really enjoyed what we could see and hike! Many informative plaques about history, a gift shop, cafe(limited hrs), picnic tables and super clean bathrooms. We drove the wilderness drive and enjoyed nature at its best!! There is a beautiful paved bike trail so we will be returning with our bikes next! Day pass was $7.00 and worth every penny!

Beautiful seeing vast trails and of course the start of the great Mississippi River! Spent many times camping and 15 + years of deer hunting the beautiful area that is offered here.. Watch each other for the deer ticks as their bad up there. Part of the reason we quit hunting it... Love, Peace, and Prayers to All who visit this unique place God has created for everyone.

Nature & Parks

Itasca State Park, located in northwestern Minnesota, is a vast natural area spanning over 32,000 acres and featuring more than 100 lakes. As the state's oldest park, it is renowned for being the birthplace of the Mississippi River. Visitors can witness the headwaters of this mighty river at Lake Itasca and even walk across its beginnings before it embarks on its 2552-mile journey to the Gulf of Mexico.

Fantastic place to visit! This is a must visit if you are anywhere near Itasca. The visitor center is nice and well kept. A short drive from the visitor is the headwaters of the Mississippi River. It's awesome to be able to walk across knowing how big this river is.

This is a State Park, so there is a one day vehicle permit of $7. After that its free, except if you buy something from the gift shop. Restrooms are inside the gift shop area. It's a nice gift shop with all kinds of fun stuff and nice people. This is the headwaters of the Mississippi River, which to us was a must see. A small placid little stream that is knee deep when it follows out of Lake Itasca. In late September, when we were there, the water was almost warm. One parks in front of the Visitor's Center and walks a short forested trail back to the marker, and the crossing rocks. There is also a split log 'bridge' for those who aren't as sure-footed. The picnic area is near the Visitor's Center, and the parking lot is generous. We enjoyed our Bucket List visit.

Itasca State Park is great! We try to make a trip up there once a year, and our kids enjoy exploring as much as we do. They have plenty of parking, great trails, and a nice visitor center. Some of the views are breathtaking! We plan on using the campsite later this year and plan on reviewing that. The pictures are obviously from different years, but I just realized I've never reviewed it when Google suggested it to me.

Cody T — Google review

Loved this park. We camped in our Class C motorhome. It was cold and rainy and muddy and had snowed 5 inches before we arrived, but we thoroughly enjoyed our experience anyway. Will come back when warmer to wade across the Mississippi!

Darla W — Google review

So much to do and see here! This park is great for hiking, but it is also easy to drive around and park at all the different attractions. Itasca Sports has all you recreation needs: cycling, e-bikes, canoes, kayaks, and pontoons! The fire tower gives incredible views. The Mississippi River headwaters are very cool to walk over and in the water.

Tom H — Google review

Absolutely beautiful forests, and my wife even claimed to see a bear crossing a side road driving through. The headwaters are majestic. Anyone in the area should take the time to stop, but preferably if you have the day free. Didn't get to hike or bike this time around, but would love to.

Tyler L — Google review

Very wonderful park and great camping experience. Long paved bike trails all over the park that can also be used for strolling like we did. We visited every single point of interest in the park and enjoyed our 5 days very much. Douglas Lodge was a pleasant dining experience. Great Walleye sandwiches! The riverboat tour, headwaters of the Mississippi, both visitor centers in the park are informative and beautiful, Preachers Grove, Peace Pipe Vista and several more things to see. The campground is nicely laid out and the shower house is excellent. We would certainly stay again.

Karene B — Google review

Highly recommend visiting Itasca State Park and staying overnight at least once in the campground. There are black bears present in the area so follow the rules with putting food away. Flush and pit toilets available throughout the campground as it is huge. It is hard to get a spot on the weekend so plan ahead. You will never get bored as the park has boat ramps at lakes, a swimming beach on Lake Itasca, canoe and bike rentals, a scenic drive, an observatory deck, hiking trails, and camping.

Ja B — Google review

Such a beautiful State Park! The cafe was super good and the staff there were super friendly. We went up to the Mississippi Headwaters, and it was a super easy, 600ft walk. The boardwalk goes to/from the main base, so it's super easy to get back and forth. Such a great spot to dip your feet in and take in the nature!

Madi H — Google review

07/06/2024 Incredible to see the Mississippi at its Most Narrow Point (The Start). With many opportunities to walk across here, would highly recommend giving Itasca State Park a stop. We arrived at 11am, spending roughly 5 hours here. We found this to be plenty of time to check out all of the main attractions, in addition to doing several hikes off on less popular trails. Would recommend trying to come during a off time, as this park is on the smaller side and seems to get rather busy. As well, it can be difficult to get decent pictures with how busy some areas were during our visit.Just our take, we found the main attractions here to totally be worth Five Stars. Many of the less popular trails were a bit on the dry/ less exciting side.We also brought our two medium/ large dogs with, they had a great time.

Sid S — Google review

My favorite MN State Park. Walking across the headwaters is so fun, there are miles of bike trails, beautiful hikes, lakes (some with great swimming spots), campgrounds, cabins to rent, etc etc. There's something for absolutely everyone. My favorite is the fire tower which, once you make it up the 130some stairs, offers the most gorgeous views (especially in the fall) for miles.

Tara I — Google review

Beautiful, clean, inviting. Always love family trips here or even just by yourself. Such a peaceful and relaxing environment. So much to do and explore, with never ending activities.

Ashlee W — Google review

Itasca State Park is a massive state park full of trails for walking, hiking and biking, with tons of campgrounds and breathtaking scenery. Situated at the headwaters of the Mississippi River, I would not recommend visiting during a holiday or weekend as it tends to get over crowded and opportunities to take memorable photos are difficult. The gift shop was packed but had tons of cool stuff in it from fudge to venison beef sticks! The park was exceptionally clean and easy to navigate with plenty of parking. It always felt safe. Definitely a gem of Northern Minnesota!

Jordan A — Google review

See where the headwaters of the Mississippi River. The trail was nice not too far from the visitor center. The visitor center was so beautiful Cafe and coffee. They were short the day we went so I could go without stopping. Looked like a nice regular menu when it was fully staffed .

Chelsea K — Google review

I got to see where the Mississippi River starts....Ahhhh!Yep... most beautiful scene. This park has so many areas to just be. A must-see.

Laurisa D — Google review

Such a beautiful park. Great place to recharge your mind and soul. I've been going here since I was a kid and it is always a great visit. Great place for kids and adults to breathe and relax. Drive the back one-way route, shut off your vehicle, and enjoy the deafening quiet. $7 for the day or buy a season pass. Money well spent.

Larry L — Google review

Beautiful park! I did the hiking club trail and it was great! Beautiful views amd there were many other trails that I can't wait to explore! The visitor center is full of educational info. My 7 year old grandson and 2 year old granddaughter both enjoyed the interactive displays.

Kris S — Google review

Beautiful park! It's pretty amazing to be at the headwaters of the mighty Mississippi! The rocks can be quite slippery so be careful! I would highly recommend water shoes and just stay off the rocks. We also stopped at the fire tower. It's 135 steps to the top of the tower. There is a 1/2 hike to the tower which involves a fairly steep, long incline.

Rachael M — Google review

Just fabulous. Love the 1930s WPA buildings, the tall pines the perfect north woods setting plus seeing the Headwaters of the Mississippi.

Marsyl W — Google review

Our family does a yearly trip to Itasca for a reason. Campsites are decent. There are lot of hiking and history to explore. Biking the Wilderness Loop is a must. Kayaking Lake Itasca, Mary Lake, and others outside the park. It’s sad the main Lodge has been allowed to lose its appeal and is rarely open.

Michael M — Google review

Haven't been in years. Great to get back. So many nice updates. Didn't get to hike much but really enjoyed the 10 mile wilderness trail car ride. Most of it was a one way so nice to drive through it. Felt like you were driving on a bike path. Easy assessible walk or Wheelchair to the headwaters. Beautiful park. Would love to camp or stay in a cabin.

Ann K — Google review

I absolutely loved this state park. It is a very interesting geographical location. As soon as the water flows from Itasca Lake , it becomes the infant Mississippi River. This state park has a lot to offer. It is a great opportunity to learn about the Mississippi River. To see our adventures, subscribe to SIMPLE LIFE BIG ADVENTURES on YouTube.

Scotty T — Google review

It was a fun visit. My sister lives an hour away. We waded in the Mississippi. There were lots of kids and dogs so that was fun. We talked to some people from Germany.

Linda F — Google review

What a beautiful state park. I had no clue this place was so large and had so much to offer. Tons of trails, very nice welcome and visiting centers, lots of restrooms available.

Adam A — Google review

Visited Itasca State Park on 9/2/23 over Labor Day weekend. I was pleasantly surprised it didn’t seem overly crowded for a holiday weekend. Our group visited the trail leading to the start of the Mississippi River, and we also spent some time at the beach. (Please note there was a sign indicating dogs shouldn’t be on the beach, most other areas seemed dog friendly). The trail was a very short walk to the water, there was a cute bridge along the way. You can choose to walk over, or through the water. It’s bear country so just know you need to be on the lookout and take precautions with food. There are bear proof trash receptacles throughout the park.

Chelsea K — Google review

Beautiful park!! We stayed in the park cabins, and they had everything we needed, very well maintained. Really enjoyed this place, full of nature and peaceful

Great place to visit. Seeing the head waters of the Mississippi was a great experience. You are able to walk across the river in this location.

Trav and the rest of the C4 crew are always a pleasure to work with. The time our students spend there is always enjoyable. We always look forward to having the C4 course as an end of year field trip. I would HIGHLY recommend this experience to anyone.

Kelsey C — Google review

Challenge course with multiple different challenge options. Can go as small group or larger. Families, teams, friends, coworkers all can benefit from some of the team building skills and encouragement activities. Can help put things in perspective. Has small inside store with branded gear, small bathroom. Large outdoor gathering space. There is not a lot of parking. Many different games and challenges. There is a playground for smaller children. Ropes course is elevated high enough to give even those without height scares some shake knees. Rip cord (always fun), Trust sessions, problem solving skills and team balance. The staff is trained well and fun to work with.

Megan A — Google review

Everyone was so nice and helpful. This was a totally new experience and my family and I will never forget. Beautiful scenery built into the trees as well!!

Stacy Z — Google review

Amazing course and great staff. Very well taken care of and appreciate the way they get you pushing yourself. Kids and older adults can do it!

Matt F — Google review

I haven't been to the rope course but it's on my summer bucket list! Travis came to my old school and did a school assembly, it was awesome! I was a volunteer for this event getting to work with kids and being a main group leader getting these kids comfortable and learning new skills! Thanks for everything, and I hope you come back here soon!

Carlee S — Google review

Words aren't enough to describe this experience! The staff are all so patient and kind to help us through a whirlwind of emotions- fun, fear, craziness, accomplished, and just plain awesome! Highly recommend going!

Amber P — Google review

Kinship mentors and mentees had an excellent time. The staff are friendly, and the facility is beautiful. The course is challenging and fun!

Kinship A — Google review

We had a phenomenal experience here.I love how the staff simple guides the kids and they do most on their own.Everyone is so encouraging and my kids definitely concord fears!

Nicole B — Google review

We arrived very excited. We have 3 kids 11, 11, and 5. It was harder for our 5 year old, but he was a champ and the staff there made it an absolutely amazing experience for all of us. I would highly recommend this for any adventurer out there. It is especially good for families and if you want to do any team building. Everyone is so encouraging. THANK YOU to everyone there!!!

Kari A — Google review

We had a great time! The staff was friendly and energetic. The only negative was we (3 older adults) were coupled with 2 other groups making us a group of 9 (3 young children). This resulted in a lot of standing around and waiting. We did the extreme package and would have like to do more than 2 challenges. It's a great concept and Travis and Sarah seemed to be very dedicated to working with kids.

Delene C — Google review

The Character Challenge Course was an awesome team building experience for us. It pushed people out of their comfort zones and allowed them to rely on others for help. It was a great way to kick off the busiest time of year for our team. Your leaders Evan and McKenzie kept us all safe and were very helpful and encouraging throughout the day. We had a ton of fun and a lot of laughs were had by all.

Harmon E — Google review

Amazing! Take the Extreme Package for the best thrills! The C4 Course is the best team building exercise and so much fun. The Swing is the best one, in my opinion, and the “Leap of Faith” is the best beginning for this course as it gets you used to the challenges of the course. The staff are amazing and friendly. Very professional and kind, We had Evan and Jessica, I think, either way they were amazing and a great help. 10/10 would recommend for business / groups / organizations, though I plan to bring my family next!

I'm so glad I stopped here. The wines are delicious. My boyfriend and I did the tasting. We loved the wines. Theres lots of seating outside and inside. Cute little giftshop. Brewery & pizza on site too. Worth a stop and hope to come back for the wine stomping event!

Bianca G — Google review

Very well organized. The tour guide Bruce, thought us alot about making wine. I also like it that it has some yard activities for the little ones.

Peggie W — Google review

This place is the perfect hangout spot. It is great for events, live music, wine tasting, and stocking up. Everything we tried was on point: the chardonnay, zinfandel, and especially the peach wine. Appreciate the preset tasting menu with options of dry sweet and mixed so we don't have too many decisions to make. The brewery on site also has a fantastic selection of wine and whiskey aged brews. Food cart on site for snacks, the pretzel, of course, is the best

Brandon D — Google review

Excellent place to unwind, enjoy the countryside and great food and drinks! The pizza was excellent (we had the vegetarian and the spicy pepperoni) and I appreciated the array of wine flight options - most of them costing $12 or you can customize your flight for $15 or go for the primo wines for $30. The beers were really great quality as well. Try to go when they have live music. Plus, they’re dog friendly!

Leah I — Google review

Hot Dish Red is my go-to wine! Beautiful location, and so much fun to go to the Grape Stomp and other events they host. Definitely a place I recommend to people coming to the area!

Nicole K — Google review

Delightful venue for a wedding, great selection of wine (didn't try any brewery options), and a wonderful location and atmosphere. On top of all of that, the staff were willing & able to answer questions and provide knowledge on the offerings/event details. Would definitely recommend, and be more than happy to come back in the future!

Christian M — Google review

Wonderful winery!! It's beautifully maintained and the wines are great - especially for a MN winery! Shout-out to the cute wine labels, too. There is also a brewery, but we didn't make our way over there. We did have two pizzas, which were very good! I'll gladly make another trip over the next time we're in Alexandria.

Lindsey H — Google review

We stopped by here on a weekday while visiting the area. The place was really nice and it wasn't busy so there were plenty of seating. Tried the MN Nice series wine flight and loved it so much, I bought a bottle of each to bring back home. The staff were friendly and helpful. There were souvenirs for the kids to buy to keep them entertained while we were there. I bet the place is lovely in the summertime.

Linda ( — Google review

I attended a wedding reception here recently. The event space is beautiful, with lots of options for each aspect of the ceremony and reception. Parking was a bit tight but adequate, I believe there were over 300 guests for comparison. Luckily, parking was close to all other spaces. The service was fantastic, the food and drinks were very good. Bathrooms were clean. Beautiful place for a reception and / or wedding.

Alison Z — Google review

What a great Winery. The Hot Dish Red wine is one of our favorites. The Pizza was so good as well. Live music topped the evening. Really like the whole venue.

Tim B — Google review

Very beautiful grounds! It was much larger than expected. In addition to the winery, there is a brewery on site as well as a pizza restaurant. Large variety of wines. A fun atmosphere with lots of people enjoying a lovely afternoon.

Ann C — Google review

When we started to look for a venue, we were adamant in finding an all-inclusive service that fit our aesthetic and hospitality needs, at which we could approach our day with relaxed and confident minds to focus on our moment and not the details. Carlos Creek Winery delivered with everything we were looking for. From to-dream-of aesthetics, excellent hospitality that focuses on your and your guests experience, down to the details that will remain forever in your memories as the "special touch"; we can't think of a thing that was missed. Thank you to the entire Carlos Creek team that was a part of our special day!

Rebecca S — Google review

We had so much fun here at this Winery/Brewery. They have outside games like chess and bags. They had live music the day we went and their prices were extremely reasonable. Way out in the country so you get a nice little day in oasis.

Bridget O — Google review

What a beautiful venue for a wedding. I love how the wine barrels are displayed and djing on their stage is awesome. They also have a great staff- Emily and Dominique and the crew were extremely helpful.

DJ E — Google review

My boyfriend proposed to me at Carlos Creek and all the ladies made the whole experience so special! Such a great place to make memories and have a great day. The bartenders are the sweetest people ever and made picking out wines so much fun!

Kayla H — Google review

I normally wouldn't post but saw someone commented on the food trucks serving during Grape Stomp 2023 and wanted to share my experience. This was my first time at the event, and I have to eat gluten free. I thought the food truck selection was perfect for me. I ate at the one selling burgers, and they were able to serve a gluten free option which I hadn't expected. And the food was amazing - so far the best meal I've had in the couple weeks I've been here. Thank you for a great and entertaining event and for making it safe by having bus transportation from the hotels. It's definitely something I'd encourage anyone visiting in the area to attend.

Pam B — Google review

Grape Stomp 2023 was a blast but up your food truck game! The craft vendors are all hand-picked and there is great effort put into finding unique, one-of-a-kind goods along side the commercial booths but the food was a major disappointment. This venue is HUGE and only 3 days. Feels like the food vendors should be gourmet and put out the best they have. People will pay for good food if it mirrors the quality of drinks and art.

Carmen C — Google review

Such a beautiful winery and brewery located in Alexandria, Mn! Carlos Creek Winery is one of the nicest in Minnesota! The beautifully maintained grounds compliment the terrific, friendly service and of course the fantastic wines made on site; particularly the Hot Dish Red and Wobegon White! An Amazing experience where you can spend all day, all year around, even dining there at Stoke wood-fired pizza! Terrific!

Exhibits & artifacts on Nordic & Native American history & regional wildlife in a historic complex.

This was our 2nd visit to the museum and we would go back again if we are in town! My 7 & 10 year old enjoyed the scavenger hunt activity to help them learn more! All the artifacts in and outside were so fun to explore!

Amanda L — Google review

As someone who knew NOTHING about the Runestone, I admit this museum did an amazing job educating me not just about the deep history of the Runestone but of other histories as well (of the native Americans in the area)The museum was great and told the complex history of the Runestone in a way a beginner like me could understand. I appreciated the extra stuff outside which gives context to the city of Alexandria as a whole. This place is great for families and kids to! Interesting place to stop if your interested in this sort of thing

KK G — Google review

I’ve lived in the area for twelve years and had never visited the museum. I finally visited and found the museum to be quite interesting. The layout takes one through time in the area and many historical facts and events are well done. If one finds oneself with a question of what to do, this should be on your list.

Jerry P — Google review

The curator was amazing. So friendly. We took the kids out of school for the day for a field trip from Mankato. They lived the treasure hunt, the games, and they learned so much. And I finally got to lay my own eyes upon the stone. What a great way to spend Yule.

Tad J — Google review

I've taken my family here twice and both times we loved it. The staff is always so welcoming and accommodating. So much work and care has been put into the displays and it shows. This is some of the most important and unique history in Minnesota and is a must-see for anyone and everyone in this state and beyond. I had no idea there were so many more viking artifacts unearthed on Minnesota ground in addition to the iconic kensington runestone itself. Amazing collection of native American items as well.

George D — Google review

We mustn't forget the past! We MUST preserve it! Not only does this museum have on display the authentic 1362 Runestone, but tells the history of it's finding, the controversy&so much more. There is much to see, hear, touch&learn about many other subjects of the past. You won't be disappointed.

Barb S — Google review

I visited your lovely museum several years ago, but I am loving that history has evolved to learn about how many more places the Norse actually visited in the "New Land" than previously known.I feel that this helps your museum greatly.More Validation in the future. But we can never forget who's land this was previously.... the great indigenous peoples who were here long before.Thank you for a lovely visit.I'll be coming back again❣️

Linda T — Google review

small town “museum”. not really easy to know what is a real artifact and what’s a replica. they don’t care much about this, so, even if they do have some great indigenous pieces, i like more the taxidermy and the everyday items that seems really authentic.the rune stone itself is interesting: some part history and huge part conspiracy theories. i mean, it’s funny, but not scientific.they have audio visits BUT don’t allow people to have access to the wifi EVEN if we were the only ones around the whole time.i loved the plush birds with real cornell university calls that are sold by the shop.

Priscilla D — Google review

This was a great family place to visit. There is a lot more than the Runestone. There is a pioneer village, American Indian artifacts, local artifacts, a replica viking ship, and more Nordic artifacts. There is activities for kids to do and some games to play. The Runestone is controversial piece of history and was very cool to see in person. Check out the History channel special on it as well as the museum. Don't rely on Wikipedia when finding out information, come and see it in person. Was worth the price of admission.

Nestled within the quaint town of Alexandria, Minnesota, lies an enigmatic artifact that has captivated the imagination of scholars and enthusiasts for over a century—the Kensington Runestone. Discovered in 1898 by Swedish immigrant Olof Ohman, the runestone has sparked intense debate over its authenticity and origin, shedding light on its profound significance in shaping the narrative of Minnesota's history. In the late 19th century, while clearing land on his farm near Kensington, Olof Ohman, a Swedish immigrant, unearthed a peculiar 202-lb slab of graywacke stone. According to his account, the stone was buried under the roots of a large tree. When unearthed, it was found to bear inscriptions mysterious markings resembling medieval Norse runes. Ohman's son also reported seeing the stone before it was fully unearthed.Initially dismissed as a mere curiosity, the significance of the discovery soon became apparent as experts examined the inscription. The runic script purportedly narrates the tale of a Viking expedition to the region in the year 1362, predating the arrival of Christopher Columbus to North America by over a century. This revelation ignited a firestorm of speculation and intrigue, thrusting the small town of Kensington into the spotlight of international attention.Runestones are ancient stone monuments bearing runic inscriptions, typically dating back to the Viking Age in Scandinavia, roughly from the late 8th to the early 12th century. They were erected as memorials, grave markers, or to commemorate significant events. These inscriptions often include names of individuals, messages, or stories from Norse mythology. The Kensington Runestone, is one of the few runestones found outside of Scandinavia.Beyond its archaeological significance, the Kensington Runestone holds profound cultural and historical importance. If authentic, the inscription challenges conventional narratives of European exploration in North America, suggesting that Vikings may have ventured far beyond the confines of their Norse homelands. The stone was then sent to Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. It achieved brief success in 1949, when the stone was put on display at the Smithsonian Institution though the scholarly consensus dismissed it as a hoax.Regardless of its authenticity, the Kensington Runestone continues to exert a profound influence on Minnesota's cultural landscape. The name for the National Football League’s Minnesota Vikings is a direct outcome of the fame of the Kensington Runestone and the annual Kensington Runestone Festival celebrates the region's Scandinavian heritage. While the initial draw of the the Runestone Museum is the Runestone itself, the museum also focuses on Fort Alexandria, a remarkable example of early Nordic-American folk culture. In the tumultuous aftermath of the Dakota Conflict of 1862, the landscape of Alexandria underwent a profound transformation. Fleeing settlers left behind ghostly remnants of their once-thriving communities. In response to the upheaval, the Eighth Regular Infantry, under the directive of the Governor of Minnesota, erected Fort Alexandria in the spring of 1863. This military stockade, a symbol of resilience amidst adversity, served as the nucleus of social and commercial activity in the region.Stepping through the gates of Fort Alexandria, visitors are transported to an era of frontier living, where log residences, a church, a school, and a blacksmith shop dot the landscape. The meticulous reconstruction of these structures offers a vivid portrayal of pioneer life in Central Minnesota during the 19th century. The museum's extensive collection offers a kaleidoscopic view of history, from the storied adventures of the Vikings to the enduring legacy of Native American tribes. Among the highlights are the 45-foot Viking ship Snorri and the Native American exhibit.

Jessica B — Google review

Great museum with a lot of surprising history packed inside. The story of the Kensington Runestone and the family that discovered it is tragic and oh so interesting. Go for the giant replica Viking ship alone!

Adam B — Google review

This was a fun and interesting museum. There was a lot of facts and artifacts to discover both native American and norse. The rune stone was very cool to see. The viking ship section was closed for the season so we plan to come back to see that once it reopens. The woman working the front desk was Shelly. She was a sweetheart. Very nice to talk to. She had a sweet soft voice.

A favorite place of mine to just get away and spend some me time. The coffee & soft drinks are fresh. The hotel I's always clean, the hot tub, sauna & pool are amazing.Drink specials & bands on the weekends. Love it. Employees are Super.

The restaurants were amazing. Rooms were standard. No shampoo/conditioner/ lotion or even hand soap in the room. I read that they should give you a bag at check in... That never happened. Check in was also over 3mins longer then any standard check in. The pool was great with a walk in section for small kids. Huge hot tub And sauna. Slots were great.

My experience was overall positive. I had a blast at the table games and had friendly dealers (for the most part). Some of the alcohol rules are strange but to be expected at a Reservation casino. Drink waitress came around often. There was also a live band playing the night I was there which was a nice touch on the floor.RESTAURANT: Not good. Over priced for a poor cut of meat and some absolutely terrible 'walleye'. Skip the sit down "fancy" restaurant, not worth the price.HOTEL: Very nice clean and updated rooms. No complaints. If it wasn't for the bad food at the restaurant it would be 5 stars

Nice game selection and change out choices (however, I do miss Monopoly). Just wish my luck of winning was better. Last night was lively though, the sound of live music & people winning was fun to hear. It was like a casino should be.

Wow, talk about going backwards! THIS PLACE STINKS LIKE A STINKY BUTT ASHTRAY. So many people with breathing problems, not to mention we just got done with a scamdemic having to do with breathing and lungs.Everyone was used to having smoke-free healthy air to breathe since the pandemic closure. Nobody complained about clean air including the smokers, who gladly went outside to smoke.Losing is one thing, but losing then leaving smelling like an ashtray, and coughing up secondhand smoke, is not worth it.Whoever made this decision obviously does not care about the nice employees (some of them anyway) who work at Northern lights casino, or their health. Will not be coming back. You can keep your dirty, polluted, cancer-causing air for yourselves.

I swung in quick on my drive through Walker. Played a few games, then sat down at one last game before I left. There was a paper jam and I’ve currently been sitting at the same machine waiting for someone to fix it for over an hour. It’s 1am and I still have an hours drive. I’ve spoken to everyone here I can but I’m still waiting. Probably a good place to get away with whatever you want to get away with because no one seems to care. I literally just want my money so I can get the hell out of this godforsaken place.

The hotel was decent. It's frustrating they don't take cash for incidentals at check in (like every hotel does), and when we did check in and get to our room, (which had 2 queens) I sat on the end of one bed and the frame broke. They did get it fixed immediately. The beds are extremely firm and very hard to sleep on. The view is alright but it is close to many great amenities like Shingobee. The pop machine on our floor was FULL of EXPIRED pop, it wasn't ideal. The staff were friendly and helpful, but overall the experience was just decent. Wouldn't be my first choice.

i am currently staying here at the hotel, and i am disgusted by the service.whoever was working the snack bar close should be fired. i was at the Fuchs and Young wedding and was trying to order myself something to eat before close, the individual said there was no more hot food at 1:52, we understood and ordered cold food kindly. when we offered our card payment the individual did not accept the card due to the maiden name not matching the name on the ID, i said “ if you find it that weird here’s cash” and after entering our order and asking for payment she told us at 1:56 that they were closed. and she walked away and turned the lights off in our faces. someone please look at the camera footage. we were not violent or aggressive and i believe this individual who closed on 09/09 and the camera footage indicates a very awful and mean employee. i’m prepared to expose them. shame on them. i will be calling about this and expecting an apologydisgusting.

Prime time Tuesday. Senior free play and 5.00 food. What a joke! When I received my meal I only received 3.00 off food. When I asked the players club why only 3.00 she told me well they changed it. I asked then why is it still on website. They forgot to change it! It's there monthly daily special..just ripping off the old people!

The casino floor was very clean. There were plenty of food options. I had a burger and fries. The meat was wonderful, and the fries were crispy and fresh tasting! It has a great collection of slot machines and poker tables. I suggest playing "The Mask" slots. Great payouts (for my group anyway) and fun to play. There was also a large bar located in the center of the casino that is easily accessible to those of us who can walk and also for those of us who cannot. I did not stay at the hotel. Just a fun afternoon trip!

Loads of fun!!! Great variety of different machines and settings. An excellent place to enjoy an evening out. The buffet is great, the bar has live bands and there's free beverage bars by every bathroom. Recommendable!

Fun, nice place, very clean, staff was friendly! We come by here about once a year and have stayed overnight several times. The perks have been better than this past weekend. Hope they come out with some more.

Terese R — Google review

Our room was barely cleaned, there was trash in the bathroom, barely any toilet paper, the floor hadn't been swept or vacuumed. Our room cards stopped working after the first day and we had to get new ones. The Wi-Fi didn't work at all, and none of us had any service inside the building( aside from a few small spots). The one good thing is the snack bar had really good food and amazing service. I would go here again just for the snack bar if I could.

Gavin P — Google review

I really appreciated the fact that the hot tub was actually hot and not luke warm to accommodate children that shouldn't be in it anyways. The room was clean. The beds and pillows comfortable. The negatives were that upon check in there was a very long wait. If you tell all the guests to arrive at 4 than please have more than 1 employee helping the desk at that time!!!! Same thing in the casino restaurant (not the snack bar) We waited for a long time to be seated and it looked like it was closed down. Finally a hostess came. They were open. Just didn't look like anybody was working.

One of the worst casinos I have ever been to. 25 dollars for one point on rewards. These were the tightest machines I have ever played. You hardly ever get the bonus and when you do it does not pay. Stay far away from this place all they do is take your money and it is zero fun. They allow indoor smoking and the casino stinks real bad. All the staff seem like they can’t stand their jobs. Play anywhere else.

Brandon W — Google review

Great place to stay for the weekend as other hotels were much higher priced. Kids liked the Snack Bar that was open late enough to get something to eat after hockey tournamnet games. Hotel rooms do need some repairs, but I think that is anywhere you go.

Wonderful gated campground with full hook-ups (water, electric, sewer) picnic tables and fire rings. Level tarred pods. Plenty of room between campsites. They need to promote their RV sites. Most people don't even know the RV Park exists. We've been the only campers there each time we've camped there. Also, it would be nice if they had a restroom/bath house in the campground area.

Our trip to Northern lights Casino was a trip on our 29 wedding anniversary. We were married at the court house on March 1,1995. After our marriage we went to the then smaller Casino. It was nice to see that it was a lot bigger. But the slots were still tight.

This is a dying casino. The beets keep getting raised and the jackpots keep getting lowered. I was betting $1.32 and my mini jackpot was 2.50. common... The major was only 12 bucks. They have a huge proud blown up picture of their "grand winner".. a lady from Walker and it was only 1,400 bucks. Crazy how proud they are of a win so miniscule.

Chad C — Google review

Where do I begin. Once it was time to finally check into our room. We found garbage underneath our bed and ripped up paper and nasty socks. That wasn't even the worst of it. As the night went on our room ended up coming alive. There was Asian beetles (little orange lady bugs that sink when you kill them and they bite) coming all over the place. It was horrible. When we brought it up to the front desk all they did was laugh and said we already covered this at one of our meetings. Also there was smoking throughout this entire casino. At least at Hinkely and Milacs they have designated areas for smoking.I am not pleased and will never be staying here ever again!!!

Nice place. We go every year at this time for a family party. Sad to discover that they are again allowing smoking in the casino. We really enjoyed not having to breathe the smoke in the past couple of years. Too bad the smokers won out.

WARNING WARNING WARNINGThis faculty is an absolute nightmare I will spare the ten or so small issuesand give you the top 5 absolutely UNSANITARY ILLEGAL issues at this facility.1: condom in hot tub (YES correct condom floating in hot tub. (Got photo of they want to deny this)2: specifically called before our stay to make sure their Wi-Fi has zero issues as my wife needs it for work throughout the night. (Zero Wi-Fi available all night) front desk clearly said it gets busy and the Wi-Fi don’t work at night. (AGAIN CALLED BEFORE BOOKING THE ROOM TO VERIFY WORKED) blatantly lied right to me, saying yes absolutely it works amazing.3:kids everywhere on hotel gambling floor (recorded videos of them running all around the machines) 11:30 at night4:ASKED MULTIPLE TIMES IF I WOULD LIKE TO BUY DIFFERENT DRUGS5: after all the above issues, I contact the hotel shift manager (TERRY) who says there’s nothing they can do but he is sorry for the inconvenience. This is after I was yelled at by (GG) and told call back when we are not busy and we can figure it out. I CANT UNDERSTAND HOW THIS FACILITY IS STILL OPENED.I have reported these issues to the Minnesota state Attorney General’s officeAnd the better business bureau as well .If for some reason the hotel want to contact me and give a bunch of excuses and another un-sincere apologyMy confirmation code for my stay so you can look up my information is : R26335

We up with family for the Charlie Pride concert. The happy hour draft beer was very reasonable price. We stopped at the snack bar and the fruit cup was a great price for the amount and fresh taste. The burgers and fries were good according to the family. The concert was fantastic.

Nice rooms. Quiet. Casino. I won. Pool. Bar. Convenience gift shop. Lots of nice gift ideas and things to buy. Snack bar. Just an overall good and pleasant atmosphere. I stayed both leisure and business.

Although the employees were super nice I stayed the night and never ran into anyone that won at all. Also, it was ridiculous to me that it wasn't at least mentioned at check in that shampoo/conditioner/lotion/SOAP were available if I went back downstairs to get it. Staff is unable to bring things into the room. I consider a bar of soap for the sink as necessary as toilet paper. At least that was provided. Kind of a let down, especially considering most other casinos offer midweek free rooms. Doubtful I'd stay again.

We came a couple weekends ago. We always come here! Not anymore. Our experience with Maria the black Jack dealer with long black hair was absolutely awful. We will forever avoid this woman like the plague and won’t be back again because of it.She screwed up all night on the cards. She then got An attitude at the other players saying they should pay better attention after she dealt them wrong! Your kidding me! She started slamming chips down and acting like a lunatic being pissy with everyone. Listen, we have been going to the casino for 30 years and played many tables in our time of blackjack. Never encountered such an unprofessional crazy woman in our lives.I wish I would have spoke to someone before leaving because what we experienced before we left was not ok! Never seen a worker like it

*edit - I bumped it up one star after I summoned my inner Karen and talked to another clerk, her supervisor, and the housekeeping manager to find out that, indeed, my pillow was found and bagged for me to retrieve. I'm still not appreciative of the clerk rudely telling me my pillow was not in the room, as if it vanished into thin air.*I stayed here one night. The room was comfortable and the food was OK. There is a great selection of slots. The staff was friendly and helpful.I left something in the room - specifically a very expensive bamboo pillow. It could not be mistaken for one of their hotel pillows as it's very heavy, and it was in a blue checkered pillow case. I called back later in the morning and the desk person said he'd leave a note for housekeeping. Called back at the end of the day and the clerk said no pillow was found.So... everything was great, right up until the housekeeping staff stole my property.

We had the best time, guides were amazing! Our check-in process was easy, staff was delightful, and Ryder was the coolest employee they have. Would highly recommend a visit!! Fun for the whole family.

The zip line tour was a blast! The guides were great and provided the guidance needed to complete the course. Well worth the money! The only complaint I have is with the photos. The guides took photos and we paid for the whole package, and many of the photos were not posted for us to access. I was hoping to get them all and was disappointed.

First time in the US. First time zip lining. It was AMAZING. Jadyn was at the front desk and the reception was amazing. Felt like we came home or to a place everyone knows us. From introduction to ground training all the way to flying through the air, Jimmy and Kat were great. From clear, concise instructions to great jokes and puns. If you are in the area you have to come and visit. Prices are affordable, the crew is amazing, and the view is phenomenal.

INCREDIBLE time!! Guides were tons of fun and always cracking jokes and helping ease the tension and apprehension from the people in our group that had not done this before. Two of the lines were down but we were given the guides photos of the day to compensate which was really nice. Highly recommend this place and upgrade for the GoPro you will not be disappointed!

We zip lined at the Brainerd Zip Line Tour for my husband's 69th birthday and had a great time! It's challenging, exhilarating and fun! Our tour guides - Kristin & Katie - we're patient, knowledgeable and kept us groaning with more puns than we could keep up with! We've zip-lined in Hawaii and Lake Tahoe, and rate this tied with our top favorite. Both Hawaii and Brainerd have 7 lines which we recommend doing so your confidence builds and makes for a great time. We are looking forward to trying their sister location in Henderson in the future - 14 lines sounds amazing! If you're in the area, this is a must do!

We had a wonderful experience zip lining for our anniversary trip! We didn’t know what to expect as we had never zip lined around here before. There are 7 lines all of various lengths. The tour guides made us feel very safe and had some pretty funny jokes 😆 They took photos along the way for us to purchase as you cannot bring your phone, etc. so that was nice. The views were breathtaking!

Shade-covered, tranquil oasis with a variety of flowers, a rock garden, greenhouse & lily pond.

Munsinger Gardens was a delightful flower-filled garden of peace and tranquility. We came not expecting much and were entranced by the beautiful gardens, towering trees and the serene walking path along the Mississippi. Kids loved the peaco*cks on the grounds, as well as the small stream and pool with fountain. We enjoyed our time and will come back if we're ever in the area. The gardens may be tough climbing for those with disabilities, or wheelchairs, although there still is access, especially if you have help.

Peter A — Google review

Beautiful gardens along the Mississippi. Street parking only. Gardens are free to enjoy, donations accepted. Nice additional path along the Mississippi to enjoy, with several swings and benches to relax on. The gardens are situated on a hill and is challenging for disabled or anyone in wheelchair. You would need to have assistance to get from one section to another. Not all paths are paved either. But flowers are beautiful and worth a quick stop if you are in the area.

Elizabeth K — Google review

We like to come here for family quality time together to take a step back from the busy downtown life and enjoy the beautiful view of the 20 acre of gardens and the walk along the Mississippi. Feel free to leave donations in the many donation boxes all around the park.

What an amazing place to go to on a sunshiny day! This park is beautiful! So many different flowers and plants and all super well maintained! You can walk along the gardens or head down by the river and walk along the paths there! So many beautiful things to see! Bonus is that there is an ice cream place right on site! Definitely a place to stop at when you are in the area during spring/summer!!

This is always a treat for us when we are in town. There is so much to see. The caretakers do an incredible job of making these gardens gloriously beautiful. We went down toward the river to see what I think is newer gardens as well. I hadn’t seen that part in the past. There is so much Beauty to take in. So many great photo spots if you need a back drop for senior pictures, family, or engagement photos. It is free to visit and parking is easy.

Best free activity in St. Cloud, definitely a must visit if you're in the area. Grounds are breathtakingly beautiful and so well kept. The smell from all the flowers is lovely and all the fountains are gorgeous. It's situated right on the river and parking is free. There's also an ice cream shop inside the main building. It's truly a perfect summer spot to come take a stroll and relax.

I made a visit invthe rain. Took photos of the beautiful garden tulips and the biggest magniolia tree (bursting with blossoms) that I've ever seen!

Deb H — Google review

Gorgeous gardens, nice paths to walk through. Some nice benches to rest in along the river. Well worth the stop to visit both gardens. Multiple fountains running with small streams running through, very relaxing and inviting.

Erik K — Google review

I would like to go back later in the summer, as it was pretty now but as it's only spring it was mostly tulips and hyacinth for flowers. It will be even more beautiful later on the season! One note: the signs at entrance said that no dogs are allowed in the gardens, but multiple people had their pets with. I only saw the sign once, so suspect it is easily missed. Everyone behaved well so we weren't bothered, but if you are considering bringing your dog it is violating the posted rules.

Gorgeous flowers. Fairly well maintained. Walking paths were easy to traverse with a motorized scooter. The main formal gardens are on Riverside Avenue. If you turn toward the river there are lower, informal gardens and paths down there as well.

Such a pretty place and the best part of it all is that it’s free. This is definitely one of my favorite garden places to visit. Worth the drive and I don’t even live in Saint Cloud. Look at some of the photos I took of the garden. It’s a must see.

Any time of year these gardens are spectacular. I have learned so much about different plants, insects, and gardening techniques just from observing this garden, that it's an education in itself. It's a beautiful place to see the earth come back to life in the spring and appreciate the last bursts of color in the fall. Even the winter scenes have a lot to offer-- don't just go in the summer. Go for your mental health.I didn't expect to see a garden this beautiful when I moved here, but it's one of the reasons I decided to stay.

Beautiful gardens, free to walk, donations accepted. The large trees keep most of it partially shaded. A nice mix of perennials and annuals. Stunning beds along a river walk, the swinging benches allow you to enjoy views of the Mississippi and St. Cloud State campus. The neighboring Clemens gardens are more formal.

A first visit to Munsinger Garden. I have always passed by this wonderful place but never had the time to walk around. I was able to spend about 90 minutes strolling and looking at all the spring time flowers and tulips. I walked the lower portion of the garden next to the river. I will definitely make plans to visit again as other plants and flowers will begin to bloom.

Jason B — Google review

Had a great time walking around the top and lower section. Really enjoyed the lower section being right up against the Mississippi River. It’s a very clean and pristine area for the amount of foot traffic it gets. Very high amount of respect and praise to the people that maintain and take care of it. Definitely recommend checking it out!

I came here this time last year, but it was too cold to stay out and really see the beautiful gardens. It was in the 80s today, so I was able to spend as much time as I wanted to.It's full of luscious beauty and water fountains, and a well. The flowers were in full bloom, and the trees were turning already due to fall. It's a great place to meditate, have a nature walk, or a date.I'm in love with this place. I have so many pic opportunities. The best part is like it's two for one with Clemon Gardens right above on the next street, and there is a path to walk.

There is so much to see in all the gardens! It was a wonderful place to take a break from driving and to stretch our legs! In May, it wasn't all in bloom yet, but it was still beautiful.

Munsinger Gardens is an absolutely beautiful and wonderful place to visit if you are in Saint Cloud. You can walk around here for hours and enjoy the many, many different beautiful types of flowers and plants. They have a vast selection of different roses that are unbelievable. This sight sits on the Mississippi River, so there are walking paths along the river. Its free.

Beautiful gardens on the East side of St. Cloud. It’s a wonderful place to visit from spring through fall. There is a lot of volunteer help that goes into keeping this place so picturesque so please be sure to leave a small donation when you visit if you can! Side note, there is an upper and lower set of gardens, both are highly impressive!

A beautiful, natural garden along the Mississippi River. We could not believe the variety of plants and flowers. There is a paved path along the river and a dirt path which weaves through the gardens. There are benches and a gazebo. On certain Sunday afternoons, there is live music near the gazebo. No animals allowed. Pedestrian friendly.

Absolutely stunning scenery. Lots of places to sit and enjoy the view. Not very handicap accessible, so I wouldn't recommend if you have a wheelchair. But it's stunning. Even just to drive by. Excellent spot for senior pictures, engagement photos, prom pictures, wedding pictures, you name it. Lots of great parking. Open every single day. It's wonderful. Probably the prettiest spot in all of St. Cloud.

Relaxed rooms in a bustling casino resort with a laid-back American grill & an indoor pool.

One of the best casino experiences I have had! Loved the gambling floor and the variety of slots. The chairs in this place are so comfortable I didn't want to get up! The room was neat and tidy. The food there is superb, especially their wild rice soup! 10 out of 10 coming back here!

Had a blast! Didn't come out so lucky. It was packed the night we went, security definitely had the drunks under control ! Only issue was with the service help desk. Had a bald gentleman with a spiky mask, he was super rude and had an attitude. Had me standing there thinking he was still doing something with my card, turns out I was supposed to read his mind that he was done!

Jed F — Google review

Some good things, some bad things about this place. I'll start with the good: The security team is great. The hotel staff is great. The gaming floor is good. There is a nice variety of games. The bingo hall is nice. The pool area is fantastic and I really like that there is an adults only time from 11 pm to 1 am. Grand Cup and Cone has delicious coffee and great service! The bad: The hotel rooms are outdated and the furniture needs to be replaced. The pillows suck, but the bed was comfortable. Another dining option on the weekend would be nice. We waited a very long time for our food at the 1991 Kitchen, and it came out cold. Cold crab legs are not delicious. Our service wasn't great either. The bingo packages are confusing and not as customizable as I'd like them to be. Bingo is also cash only here.

Going to the casino is always a fun time. And when you win it's even more better. We came late on Thanksgiving night and it was busy I didn't think it would be. I am very happy we went.

Jenelle — Google review

There's lots of parking. It's a non-smoking bldg which is very helpful. They have a lot of machines, generally well spaced so we did not feel crowded. My wife and I played for three hrs each, came out about 150 ahead. The casino winnings also paid for a superb dinner. They have several restaurants-we went to the 1991... Plenty of seating, and while it's not fancy, it was very comfortable and quiet. I got the walleye dinner and it was among the top 5 dinners I've had. I'm a steak guy, but when fish, etc are this delicious, it doesn't have to be steak anymore. Our waitress was quite good also. It was a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon... 👍👍👍

Though I've never had any luck here, they have a decent pool area and hot tub. The rooms are nice and accommodating. This location is bigger than their Hinckley location and has been renovated most recently. It has a nice buffet and a few other dining experiences that are reasonable for a casino.

Jet J — Google review

Went for a fishing trip so only really slept in the room. But the casino was extremely large with a lot of gaming to play. The place is a little dated but very clean, especially the restrooms. There was always someone cleaning them. Would definitely stay again.

Hotel room was basic, even though it was non smoking, it still had a strong smoke smell. Front desk woman seemed bothered that we booked through Expedia and gave a little attitude. Casino was typical of most modern casinos with tons of penny slots. Didn’t see any big winners but we were mainly there for the hotel. The Plum restaurant had pretty good food (BLT, Hot dog and fries). The free soft drinks were nice. The location is nice as it’s across from a huge lake. If you’re in the area, it’s worth a stop.

Mario S — Google review

When arriving to the hotel area we were not greeted with much hospitality. The front desk made us feel the opposite of welcome. There was unattended trash in the hallways of the hotel rooms. The handle on our bathroom door ripped off by simple trying to open our door. We tried to go down to the casino using the elevator, but got borderline harassed by a (clearly) very intoxicated woman, who was later just sitting in the lobby loitering. Obviously nothing was being done about her even with the 20 security guards bombarding you in every room of the “Grand” Casino. They do everything but kick out the obviously intoxicated and wandering weirdos. If you wanting to go into the pool, I’d recommend never again. We walked in during the later hours to have a nice relaxing swim but no. Workers told us to only use the hot tub as there was literal human feces in the middle of the hotel pool. There was ZERO safety measures to clean this, because that’s exactly what they forgot to do. Clean it. Simply took it out and abandoned the pool area LEAVING it open with no sign. Full use. I’m disgusted to even sleep in this place another night. It’s clearly just for the low life dirtbags who don’t care about their personal hygiene and think that they’re gonna keep winning credits on the slot machine. You’d think that it would be nice to sleep in at a hotel till at least maybe 8-9? No. Woke up to banging and drilling into the walls. Half the place is under construction and they decided to start power drilling into the walls next and above us in the morning. The only good part about this trip was the ladies working at the 1991 casino restaurant with excellent service and they will be the only thing to hold this place together.

Addy P — Google review

Had a great afternoon getting our gambling on. Clean and smoke free! There is a smoking section if needed. Will definitely return.

Stella M — Google review

Our room was a new one and very nice. Plums had excellent food and service. The casino itself was horrible. The smoking section was so heavy with smoke. There is no ventilation or fans going. You couldn't handle being in there for more than a few minutes. The machines were so damn tight. Nobody was winning and I heard many people comment on how disgusted they were. Not once did I ever hear or see anyone win a jackpot. One guy had said he got the bonus game and won a whole 86 cents. I wouldn't recommend spending much time in the casino. You will just be throwing your money away.

Lisa K — Google review

Beautiful renovations!! Our room was EXTREMELY PERFECT!!! Fresh new layout . Played at the casino , free soda . BEAUTIFUL pool and hot tub open till 1:00am! The kids have a blast and walked over to the movie theater. My only complaint is I wish you guys had a game room and better pizza at Plums!!

I've been staying/visiting GCML for years due to family being in the area and it's such a homey visit. It's a genuine taste of Minnesota in respect to how kind the staff members are and it being Native-American owned. Every room I've stayed in has been clean and comfortable, and the casino itself is always well-maintained. I love the little grocery mart right next door as well as the cinema. The hotel has a decent selection of dining options as well as a play-center for kids. If you're in the area, even if you're not a gambler, I definitely think it's worth the visit.

Victor J — Google review

The food at the restaurants was really pretty good for a casino. We had a walleye dinner that was excellent. Friendly service too, and very fairly priced. Also HUGE pool and hot tub were very enjoyable.

Joe A — Google review

Went on an impromptu day trip and it was fun. Blackjack dealer Tim was very wonderful and kind. I'm still learning so I was nervous. Lost my $40 after 30 min but it was still a great day with lots of Yays! and Oh Nos!

Annette F — Google review

2 issues and huge dor me...for one ATM'S don't allow Amwrican Express so I couldn't pull out cash to gamble. Imagine a casino not allowing use of a card to gamble. No entries after midnight except a vending machine in a town where sidewalks roll up at 6...you would think offer food past that time. Not even pizza allowed to be delivered. Worst time ever and it was my and my husband's wedding anniversary.

Sheila H — Google review

I was playing three card poker and talk with a couple staff. One in particular helped me learn about the game. Her name starts with a D but I don't know if I'd spell it right. She had a great personality and was helpful. The other times I've been there the staff are pretty helpful. Idk about the rooms never stayed a night. Location kinda far for me but it's a nice drive. Still waiting for them to bring back texas hold em, maybe one day. I'd say 3.6/5 still a fun experience.

SirLeo4H20 — Google review

I was relaxing watching TV when a staff member came into my room without knocking. Scared the hell out of me. How's a person suppose to have any privacy and feel safe after something like this. Makes me wonder if they go into our rooms when we're not around.

Bruce S — Google review

We were there for almost 8 hours. Very good variety of machines. Smoking section was small and not ventilated well. No beverage servers. Went to the bar to grab water, and was told I should have gone to a beverage station. A bit rude, Even though I tipped. I prefer Hinckley over mille lacs.

Becky L — Google review

Rooms smell like smoke, even non-smoking. That is bad for Mr. The rooms are big and nice otherwise. Service is good. Employees are always nice. It's been better inside because the smoke is gone! I wish I could win more often though.

Jody B — Google review

The rooms were not that nice for paying $170 a night. TV didn't work well. They were small rooms and the fridge didn't work. Now to the positive: the 1991 restaurant service was amazing, food was great.

Jonathon P — Google review

New rooms are horrible. They put new huge TVs in them but there are no chairs so you have to sit propped up in bed to watch. Room is very spartan. Won't be returning any time soon.

Mary L — Google review

Our family stayed here for Father’s Day weekend to celebrate FD & my husband’s 41st bday. The entrance and part of the building is still under construction but that did not impact our stay. Loved the updated modern look to everything, the lobby, hallways, rooms and the landscaping was beautiful. Front desk & security was pleasant, kids loved the pool area, food selection & casino was great also. Close to Mille Lacs, oversized vehicle parking and 24 hr surveillance made us feel at ease parking our boat and trailer overnight. E-Charging is available at an additional charge but the only inconvenience is that you need security to unlock for use every time. Overall had a very pleasant experience and will return soon. I would recommend.

B X — Google review

Everything still reeks of cigarettes. Shower didn't work well and the only restaurant has terrible food. For what the place is, at least provide some decent meals. We were informed that the hotel is under renovation so at least there is that.

Corey M — Google review

A good casino to visit when heading up north of the cities. The machines seem a little tight, but then isn't that what every gambler says when they're not winning? I've noticed it a little dirtier than other casinos, but still a good place to stretch and play a few machines or tables.

David P — Google review

Stayed for 1 night in newly renovated room. The room looked nice but super uncomfortable mattress that was lumpy and sagged. Why in these nice rooms are there no chairs to sit on or table to sit at? There is more than enough space in them, this was a super inconvenience having to sit on bed all the time. Food at restaurants was good. Gaming floor huge but no big winners around.

Lorie W — Google review

The bartenders here are amazing. They are incredibly fast, friendly and fun to be around. They make a great addition to the casino experience and have a way of making your day better no matter how unlucky you are on the machines. They go out of their way to remember your drink and often have them ready for you when they see you approaching from a distance.

Aaron S — Google review

Great casino, always clean. Never smells like smoke. I don't ever win money, for that I prefer hinkley better. But I've never had a bad experience with the staff and I've always had smiling faces back at me. I don't come here too often but when I do it's always a good experience besides the losing a lot of money part!

Caitlyn B — Google review

Beautiful newly refurbished room. The bed sucked, not only was it lumpy it was weirdly dressed. One nonfitted sheet tucked in, another sheet with something like a mattress pad on top, with a flat sheet on top of that. I kept having to remake the bed before getting back in it. Bathroom beautiful. Room, beautiful. Quiet.

Everything was going great playing blackjack me and 2 friends. Played for an hour straight put my biggest chip in and the dealer shushed my chip away didnt know what to think. My 10 went to the player next of me and next card a queen. Would have won 200, they reviewed it said didn’t qualify. We played 20 consecutive hands didnt miss one except that ironic hand. Would never consider going here again and their rooms are horrible. Construction the entire night! Go anywhere’s else!

Specialty Museums

August Schell Brewing Co is a historic brewery offering German pilsners and lagers, with an on-site museum and tours available. The brewery grounds feature the Schell Mansion from 1860, beautiful gardens, and friendly roaming peaco*cks. Visitors can also explore the Starkeller Taproom and enjoy activities like a golf simulator. As the second oldest family-owned brewery in the US, it boasts a rich history and diverse selection of German craft beers.

Worth the price of $10 admission to go on the tour! Hear the history of this 2nd-oldest family owned brewery in the country. The grounds are beautiful. We visited on a very busy day, SCHELL-O-WEEN @ the BIER HALLE!, so parking was kind of a nightmare. We parked at the bottom of the hill, and caught the free trolly ride up to the brewery. Had a beer, went on the 3pm tour. Got to taste some great beers at the end of the tour. Matt, our tour guide, was awesome!

Suzanne D — Google review

Such a beautiful place! I love the history of the brewery. Wonderful, informative tour. A fun destination!

Ann C — Google review

This place is a treasure. Driving into this place feels like you driving into the woods to find a campground, but instead, you find an incredible brewery that’s organized like a little village. We didn’t make it to the brewery tour, but we walked the gardens, our small kids had a blast, we played some board games in the brew house, and shared some pizza, pretzels and beer. Definitely worth stopping for an afternoon.

Michael B — Google review

This place is like none other. NO TV screens anywhere on the premises- such a welcome relief. Open 7 days a week- a rarity for this town. TWENTY diff beers (seltzer & root beer) on tap- all brewed HERE. Fantastic service when the tourists don't fill the place (Saturdays). It's like Heaven. So lucky to he staying less than a mile from here.

Amazing selection of beers on historic grounds! We took the brewery tour and very much enjoyed it. Our tour guide was super knowledgeable and friendly. What a great deal the tour was with free beer sampling and a souvenir cup. We highly recommend!

Awesome historic brewery. This is a must stop if you are in the area and enjoy beer. Scenic drive in to the brewery. We had a flight and all went with the Moondrift IPA. Great beer!

Beautiful place! I visited late, near closing time. I'd like to come back and get the tour. Note, for parking go all the way through the brewery and left down to the parking lot.

Great tour, tasty brews at the end! Love the history. Fantastic large public hall indoors. Fantastic setting outdoors under the umbrellas! Can't wait to go back.

Eric R — Google review

Took the brewery tour for the first time, and the tour guide was so knowledgeable, kind, and pleasant conversation. The brews were lovely, and we definitely want to make another trip when the gardens are in bloom. The prices of the drinks and souvenirs were pretty reasonable! It was a lovely day.

We have experienced Oktoberfest and Bockfest recently and hope to be back again soon. They put a lot of work into the experience- live music, activities, parking and libations and was a fantastic time. Fun memories andgreat pictures to look back on!

Melissa D — Google review

Awesome place with some very cool outdoor activities, seating, landscaping, it is a unique location that feels like a hidden gem. Service was awesome and they had live music the day we came. The only reason this is a 4 out of 5 is I personally didn't love the beer. It was good but nothing I tasted (I tried like 5 different brews) made me think the beer was special. Parking is a little odd as well but that wasn't a problem and there seems to be plenty of parking, just a bit confusing to figure out. I recommend the place but I wouldn't suggest going just for the beer.

Adan M — Google review

Fantastic experience! My co-workers and I went on the brewery tour for only $10. Included samples at the end, along with a complimentary glass. Highly recommended if you love beer!

Skychaser J — Google review

It was awesome going through the tour, and the tasting room was a very comfortable place to try very fresh beers as well as some new ones. Sue, our tour guide was great and did a fantastic job showing us around. I would definitely do this tour again and highly recommend checking it out!!

Shopping Malls

I went into Torrid to pick up my orders. They asked if I wanted to use a fitting room and try them on right away.I did. It made my exchanges so easy. I love it here!

Latha S — Google review

Used to be a really good place for shopping but lots of outlets have closed now. From the ones open, only few had good deals. Hopefully, reopening after covid brings back the business and the retailers make profit again.

Preet C — Google review

An aging outlet mall. Many stores were not open when i was there. The parking lot is full of potholes and the planters are degrading. There was trash strewn around in the parking lot as well. Not what it once was.

Anna M — Google review

It's a great shopping spot with a nice variety of collections and moderate prices. I visited Nike, Gap, Aeropostale, and a few other stores, and they were all excellent places to shop. However, the place could use more attention to cleaning, and it would be great to have a few more options for food and snacks.

Vijesh B — Google review

As the Burger King proves they don't need customers through their drive thru for over 30 minutes; HATE this is the only fast food in this area of town. The Nike store was quick in rotating the large amounts of customers and had a wide variety of selections. The large amounts of speeding and icy road conditions almost caused several accidents, no less than three were observed.Shopping is always an adventure at this location.

Lady F — Google review

Seriously, from the last time I was here, I'd swear this was somewhat discounted. I drove significantly far to find out the least expensive article of clothing at LuLuLemon was $89.99. To me that seems pretty ridiculous. I will continue to shop local so I know my money is going to local families.

Pam D — Google review

Lots of great stores to choose from. However the deals actually available have gone down hill in years. There is also a major lack of any restaurants aside from a Burger King in the entire area. Literally nothing to choose from. Get something in there!

Chad P — Google review

One of the best brand outlet market. Most of the brand shops are there

Fahriar A — Google review

Used to be my favorite place to shop and hunt for good outlet deals. Now it seems to be very run down as stores are leaving and relocating left and right. Still a good spot to stop and shop all in one place, but wish the old hustle and bustle of the place still existed.

Kimberly T — Google review

Compared to a previous visit there are a lot of closed stores at this mall. Prices are very similar to those of the stores so it's more like stores shopping than outlet. I was able to pick up a few stuff nonetheless. Need improvement, hopefully next visit more shops will be open and things will be sold like an outlet.

Marie G — Google review

My son went into starbucks for me as it was too far for me to walk. Therefore, 2 stars only. Lovely area lots of parking but, no parking close to where I was going. I don't know if there is a drive-through or not. By the place it is located and area it may have one, you will need to check. This is in the huge mall in Albertville,MN.

Joyce H — Google review

Going down, not what it used to be.No banana republic. No free wifi, that’s really bad for a major shopping area.Reduced restaurants.Came by on a Friday night in the summer, everything closed at 7.

David K — Google review

My wife loves the Nike outlet store here, great retail options to choose from if Nike isn't your thing, Clean restaurants, nice staff.

MyKeya E — Google review

Not like it used to be. Albertville was our go to place for a fun shopping day and great bargains. Now half the mall is closed and falling apart and the other half is filthy, with overflowing garbage cans and litter everywhere. Bargains are very few and far between and it's not fun anymore. I wonder when the whole mall will finally shut down because it's obvious that no money is being invested anymore.

Peter S — Google review

I loved shopping here especially during sales! Alot of stores have closed or downsized. All sales people were great. I think this mall would still be great if they didn't have another outlet mall in Eagan, MN. 45 minutes away. I went on Memorial Day weekend, it was sad to see the parking lot not even a quarter filled up.

Kristie C — Google review

Don’t visit this place in a Black Friday sale event, unless you want to stay stuck in traffic for hours and hours. This place has one way in and one way out.

Juan V — Google review

Love this outlet because it have a lot of different stores. By far best service I found in Jockey store. I usually don’t remember names but this time I did her name is Karen and she was outstanding definitely knows her job. Karen make my day I would definitely come back here she got my trust in knowing what is good and comfortable for women.

Biljana — Google review

Albertville Premium Outlets deliver. Multiple famous stores in one location with reasonable prices. Plenty of parking. Very convenient.

Maximus G — Google review

I'm not typically one to write a review, let alone a negative one. However, I feel compelled to share my experience from Black Friday this year. What was supposed to be a quick trip to check out some shoe deals (none of the prices were appealing enough to consider a purchase) turned into a 3 and a half hour ordeal stuck in the parking lot due to gridlock. There were no traffic police present to manage the poorly designed parking situation. I understand that it's Black Friday and traffic is expected to be heavier than usual, so I was somewhat prepared for what I might encounter. However, being trapped in that chaotic parking lot without any system to facilitate exiting was the worst shopping experience I've ever had. There's only one road leading into the mall, and the same road is the only exit. You can imagine how nightmarish it becomes on a day filled with 'deals' and every parking spot taken. I would like to say that I'll return to this outlet mall, as I believe it's a good shopping destination overall. Yet, it's hard to support a place that fails to recognize its parking issues, especially when it does not provide adequate support for the public on the busiest shopping day of the year. The absence of police (which is bizarre considering the increased risk of shoplifting), lack of traffic control, and spending three hours in the parking lot (only if you're assertive enough to cut through traffic and find a way out) were major drawbacks. I say this to hopefully have the Albertville higher ups fix this issue going forward because I'd imagine I wasn't the most upset person leaving this place.

Logan L — Google review

Some vacant stores. I was surprised on amount of trash on the sidewalk. I will say the men’s bathroom was clean. I visited on 11-27-23.

Robert H — Google review

The toilet was closed before the stores and my daughter and I wanted to use rest room and we were not able to. I wish cleaning crew come after hours. Otherwise we had a great time

We are visiting Minnesota. The outlet was very enjoyable. The area is very clean and feel safe. Really great sales are going on. I got some new shoes at the Skechers for only $39. They are having a buy one get half off the next pair, so my husband got a pair too. Minnesota is pristine and people care about the environment. Really enjoying our stay.

Pamela N — Google review

Converse store had everything 50% off the days prior to Christmas then nothing is on sale the day after Christmas. They did this so shoppers have to pay extra money to exchange or get different items if their gifts didn’t work out. Intentionally manipulative! On the other hand the North Face store is a true outlet and has some really great deals! Pricing is relatively consistent. No bait and switch like converse.

Hiking area

Minneopa State Park boasts an array of recreational activities for visitors to enjoy, including hiking trails with panoramic views, a stunning waterfall, picnic areas and campsites. The hike to the falls is not for the faint-hearted and may prove challenging due to high water levels covering the path. Visitors are warned that 70 steps lead down to the base of the waterfall and 70 back up again, with a total distance of 0.15 miles from top to bottom.

Very impressive state park with a lot of the expected, but by golly, some unexpected as well. The first part of the park I visited was the south side where Minneopa Falls is located. Unfortunately, this time of year the falls show nothing but a trickle. The sight is certainly beautiful and worth it around all the scenery. Very well kept park with picnic areas and the bike trail that follows State 90/Hawthorn Road. There are steps involved to get to the bottom of the falls if you wish and another set of steps to a nice scenic overlook. The second part of the park had something I didn't know was available in Minnesota. There is acreage here that you can drive to watch the bison. A couple of miles in and, sure as heck, there they were herding down the road. The land here is very beautiful as well. Campsites are also located here and well placed in the woods, not just a wide open space for all the campers but more individualized. Trails seem plentiful, though I didn't walk any in this part of the park as of yet. This be a great time of year for the color change so if y'all got a hankerin' for the outdoors, come on our and support your state parks!

Another beautiful Minnesota State Park! Great spot for a day trip! It was very busy but it was also a great fall day when we went. The waterfalls were beautiful! We walked the road over to the other section of the park where the bison are kept. There is a nice walking trail around the bison enclosure. We ended up walking almost 8 miles. Dog friendly trails. Worth checking out!

Ann C — Google review

Beautiful state park. The waterfalls were full at this time of year. Neat to see Bison too

Dustin G — Google review

With the wet spring we’ve had, there was plenty of water rushing over the falls. It’s a very small hike to the falls with very few obstacles in the way. The water was running quite quickly so I would keep small children away from the water without supervision. The buffalo drive thru zoo was fun. Our kids like going to it each time we are there.

Teddy T — Google review

Such a quaint and beautiful place for a quick walk. The weather was pleasant despite it being early spring. Was expecting cold winds but thankfully the day was pleasant which heightened the experience. The walk down the falls was easy making it fun for kids as well as the elderly. A must visit place if you're looking for something close to the twin cities with less crowds.

Navneeth S — Google review

Great example of an amazing park for a smaller space. Great day use area with very unique scenery. The river valley is beautiful with uncommon rock formation for this part of MN. Nice paved trails and some decent hiking/biking for a smaller area. Campground is well treed and fairly spread out. Plus they have a bison enclosure. The area around the park is very scenic, Great park especially for spring and fall colors.

Wyatt P — Google review

The campsites were some of the most spacious we've experienced, and private. The buffalo were a neat experience, and the waterfall was gorgeous. The kids enjoyed swimming and playing in the water at the base of the waterfall, which is a bit of a trek down to with littles. The state hike was gorgeous, and not very long, which was nice for the kids. A stroller is probably doable on the trail. This state park has a lot to see and do!

Heather A — Google review

Spectacular park. (Visited May 18, 2024) Short walk on concrete path to the waterfalls. Due to a lot of snow/ rain this past winter, the falls had an abundance of clear water. Would love to return in the fall. The only downside was that the restrooms were up a hill.

M S — Google review

Tremendous waterfall and fun hike. Lovely walk with freshly misted sprinkles from the falls. Hike isn't the easiest and more challenging for some; if water levels too high path may be covered to get to falls base. By the stairs leading down to the falls base is a sign that says the trek is 70 steps down and 70 steps up. It is 0.15mi from top of the stairs to base of waterfall. Enjoy the trip!

Hannah S — Google review

Beautiful park, well worth the $7 to visit it. Waterfalls were amazing.

T S — Google review

What a great park! We camped, and everything is within a short walking distance. We went to see the bison twice while on our trip. If you have a park pass, you can go in as much as you would like. There is an old mill to check out, and I recommend doing so. The view is amazing.

Jamie K — Google review

I’ve been through here many times and I’ve always wanted to experience exactly this! These bison had us blocked in the park for 45 mins. They weren’t in the road when we came into the park but on our way out they decided they’d hang out right in the middle of the way out and walked to road for about 200 feet before they decided to get off and far enough away to safely drive by. It was giving me anxiety because it was right before park close 🤣

Amber W — Google review

My first visit here was quite short unfortunately. Though I will be sure to come back when the river has calmed down. Some really awsome campgrounds, an awsome buffalo drive( it was closed due to constant rain on this visit), and a really neat waterfall. Overall I am glad I found this little gem of a state park!

Collecting M — Google review

We stayed here in group camp 4. I recommend group site 1 (closest to vault toilets) and also 4, but it's the furthest away from the parking lot. They provide 2 wheeled carts. The firewood was $8/bundle and was claimed to be kiln dried, but some pieces were wet. The water fall was down to a trickle. Some trails by there were closed. We walked around the bision enclosure (took us about 2 hours), but driving through the area allowed you to get much closer to the Bison.

Hi P — Google review

Went to see the bison first, and that was lucky because that part closes earlier than the rest of the park. It was cool to see them for a few minutes anyway. We went to the waterfall side next. The falls and creek were pretty low and mostly frozen, with just a trickle behind the ice. The trail rails could use some maintenance

Brian D — Google review

Beautiful views, great bison viewing and waterfall. Busy with a lot of people, and there’s not many trails. Most of the people are around the waterfalls but there’s still a decent amount of traffic in the bison viewing area. There is a scenic overlook to the intact prairie a short drive up from the bison area with a historic mill on it. There are native prairie plants throughout the park, which is good to look for monarchs.

Jace H — Google review

Beautiful park except for my last visit when they were having historic flooding and the area around the falls was closed off due to the flooding and safety concerns.

Jay D — Google review

This park was nice. We stayed camping and the site we had was spacious and seclude it seemed. Going in to see the bison was cool and the double waterfall is a must see. But it was also packed with people. If you are camping wait it out and then you can get it basically to yourself.

Great place for a short walk. Lots of history here. Excellent for a family car trip. Also connect's to local bicycle trails.Bison area and camp grounds are in a separate area from falls area.Bison area is super cool. Drive through bison area.

It's a smaller park, but worth the visit if you're in the area. It has picnic tables, a covered spot to reserve for get togethers. It's beautiful, but not at its full potential when I was here due to the falls being at a trickle due to lack of rain. The hiking trails and the falls would be that much better if it was going at more than a trickle.

This was a great park even if only for a day! Sadly we haven't stayed here yet for camping, but we did go to the falls and took a hike. All and all we spent roughly, 5 hours here along with a 3hr (round trip) drive from the Minneapolis. They don't have a ton of trails as it's a smaller state park in comparison, but we did ~7 miles of hiking while we're were there, so depending on your perspective, this could be a little or a lot. We walked 5 miles around the Buffalo enclosure which was a pretty flat east walk with lots of places to rest. The kiddos enjoyed the hike and while we had lots of water it was warmer (87°F), so they were a little warm by the end. My kids are 6-8 and we go on longer walks frequently so this maybe some context to consider with your own. They have a Buffalo drive through and while the kids were really excited about that, it was what we spent the least time while we're were there on. We spent about 10 minutes and once we saw the Buffalo for a while they were less interested. We did however spend a good amount of time near the waterfalls and along the river playing in the water. As a parent fyi, lots of good picture opportunities with the kids here and they really wanted to camp here sometime. There were also a couple other places near by in St Peter to go hiking as well including 7mile park. All and all, I have a solid recommendation for Minneopa as a day trip place for kids and hikers alike. I'll add more when we camp.

The falls are cool, but they closed the stairs so you can't go down to the bottom anymore. :(

The stairs down to the lower level were closed. Literally you would walk right into the water. That's how high it is right nowThe waterfall is is amazing to say the least. It is full bore
