Fighters are the most versatile combat class, so utilizing so many different magical items makes sense. That said, I wanted to outline some of the best universal options that all Fighter subclasses can use. Here’s my list of the 10 best Fighter gear pieces in Baldur’s Gate 3.

What are the 10 Best Fighter Magic Items in Baldur’s Gate 3?
10. Caustic Band and Ring of Protection
This is an underrated piece of Fighter gear that puts the Dueling Fighting Style packed in ring form. Each attack deals +2 acid damage. I can get 20+ extra damage in a single fight using the Caustic Band, especially when you’re dual-wielding. Buy it from Derryth Bonecloak in the Myconid village.
Alternatively, if a defensive ring is more to your taste, then the Ring of Protection is a great option. Get it from Mol by completing the Steal the Sacred Idol quest. Of course, since these are both rings, insert “porque no los dos” meme here.
9. Fleshmelter Cloak or Cloak of Protection
The Fleshmelter Cloak is a great melee character gear piece that returns damage to the attacker. The enemy takes 1d4 acid damage each time you’re hit. Loot it from the Gilded Chest in the House of Healing Morgue. Similarly to the Caustic Band, there’s also a defensive alternative with the Cloak of Protection, which you can buy from Talli in the Last Light Inn.
8. Disintegrating Night Walkers
One of the biggest problems melee classes face is reaching their targets on a large battlefield. Both distance and CC spell effects that slow or restrain movement can hurt. Luckily, the Disintegrating Night Walkers gear piece solves both problems. First, they grant you a free Misty Step spell to teleport to your target as a Bonus Action. Secondly, you’re immune to Enwebbed, Entangled, and Ensared and can’t slip on Grease or Ice. I got these boots from Nere and wore them for the entire game.
7. Grymskull Helm
Want to look like Sauron while getting both offensive and defensive options? The Grymskull Helm makes you immune to critical hits and grants you fire damage resistance. You also get a free Hunter’s Mark spell which Fighters will love as they attack a lot in combat. Loot it from the Grym boss fight in the Ancient Forge
6. Fey Semblance Amulet
Fighters are also weak to control spells targeting Wisdom, Intelligence, and Charisma saving throws. The Fey Semblance Amulet offers an excellent defensive bonus, giving you Advantage on all three saving throws. Get it as a reward for completing the Avenge the Hag Survivors quest in Baldur’s Gate.
5. Gontr Mael
If you’re a ranged weapon-focused Fighter with the Sharpshooter feat, Gontr Mael is one of the best ranged weapons in BG3. Besides great damage and the attack roll boosting ability Guiding Bolt, we also receive a free Haste cast. This synergizes perfectly with Fighters. Haste grants extra attacks, movement, and AC. The best part is that Haste doesn’t require Concentration, and you don’t get the Lethargic condition. Awesome. It’s dropped by the Steel Watch Titan during the Disable the Steel Watch quest.
4. Viconia’s Walking Fortress
Viconia’s Walking Fortress is the best bulwark for shield users in BG3. I found it synergizes perfectly with my Protection Fighting Style Fighter. That said, any Fighter focused on one-handed weapons will love this Shield. You can retaliate as a Reaction and deal 2d4 force damage to your attacker while knocking them prone. You also have Advantage on saving throws against spells, and spell attack rolls have Disadvantage against you. Lastly, you can reflect projectiles and even protect an ally with the Warding Bond spell. I got it by defeating Viconia.
3. Adamantine Splint Armour
While this is an Act 1 heavy armor set, it’s so high on my list just because it’s a powerful piece of early-game gear. It has high AC, damage reduction, and immunity on critical hits. Best of all, each time an attack misses you, the attacker suffers -2 to their attack rolls. And the effect stacks.
Later, you want late-game heavy armor sets like the Helldusk Armor. However, the Adamantine Splint Armour carried me through the early to mid-game. I combined it with the Heavy Armor Master feat on my Lae’Zel, which reduced all incoming damage by 5. You can craft the Adamantine Splint Armour in the Ancient Forge using the Split Armour mold found as you enter the Ancient Forge.
2. Legacy of the Masters
Legacy of the Masters are the best gauntlets in BG3 for Fighters. You get a +2 to attack rolls and damage rolls with a +1 boost to Strength saving throws. We especially want them for that +2 to attack rolls. This does wonders to offset the attack penalty from the Great Weapon Master feat. Buy these from Dammon at the Forge of the Nine in the Lower City.
1. Balduran’s Giantslayer
Speaking of great weapons, Balduran’s Giantslayer is the best two-handed weapon for Fighters in Baldur’s Gate 3. It’s no secret, either, as this powerhouse offers numerous melee benefits that Fighters love:
- Giantslayer: This ability grants you a permanent Advantage on attacks against Large, Huge, and Gargantuan creatures. It also doubles your Strength modifier when calculating damage.
- Giant Form: You can also increase in size per Short Rest, dealing additional damage and getting a hefty 27 temporary hit points with Advantage on Strength checks and saving throws.
- Topple the Big Folk: Lastly, besides the usual weapon skills, you can also deal a burst of damage to larger creatures while knocking them prone for your allies.
